While T.I. might want to remain tight-lipped about what's going on between him and Tiny, she's decided to be candid about the state of their relationship. She's not sharing details with the press, but rather, with her followers. While shooting the you know what with fans on Instagram Live recently, a laid back Tiny was asked by one in particular if she was going to "come back to T.I." In response, she said that he's the one who needs to return home to her, not the other way around. "He need to come back to me, baby," the 41-year-old said smirking in the camera. "He need to come on back to me. I’m where I’m supposed to be at." https://www.instagram.com/p/BPoaqKagE_X/ As you were previously informed, Tiny filed for divorce from the rapper in December. Rumors about issues in their relationship have been swirling for years, including claims of infidelity on his part. Things got quite complicated when Tiny's friendship with Floyd Mayweather was put in the spotlight. Despite all of that, the pair have spent time together with their children since she filed, namely with toddler Heiress, and you wouldn't get the vibe that their marriage is in trouble. Sources close to the pair told TMZ that they've had their "romantic" moments and those who know them believe they might reconcile. However, the filing still stands, and based on her Instagram Live chat, she's waiting for him to show and prove. As for what T.I. has to say about the future of his relationship, well, as he said: "It ain't your damn business." Touché. Chrisette Michele Says, “My Family Has Disowned Me” For Performing At Inauguration

$

After being lambasted by a large chunk of the active social media population last week over her decision to sing at the inauguration ball, Chrisette Michele performed (doing "Intentional" with Travis Greene), the inauguration came and went, and people moved on. Well, not really. The backlash Michele felt then is something she's still feeling now, even from her own family members. In an interview with Billboard, one of her first since she found herself swept up in controversy, the singer stated that she'd been disowned by some in her circle over her decision to perform. She also explained why she never thought about saying no to the invitation, cleared up whether or not she was payed $750,000, shared whose criticism hurt her, and admitted that she didn't even get to meet Trump despite performing at his celebratory ball.
How She Ended up Accepting the Invitation to Perform:
When we got the phone call, and this may sound crazy, there was literally no hesitation. I turned my phone off. After seeing what happened to Jennifer Holliday, I literally turned my phone off because I knew if I was going to make any type of decision, I couldn’t be swayed left or right by what anybody thought. I had to just go with my own convictions. I changed my phone number also. I didn’t even think to say no. It didn’t cross my mind. The first thing I thought was that I have an opportunity to get in front of these people who don’t seem to understand who they’re talking to and show them what we look like. I felt automatically committed to making sure that I stood up for the women who’ve felt disrespected and the minorities who felt disrespected, communities that felt that they weren’t being heard or understood. I thought that it was almost my responsibility to not just say yes but to say yes with purpose, so that was my reasoning. And no, I didn’t think twice about it. I’ll say that the backlash, I did personally feel, came from members of my extended family who decided that they didn’t want to speak to me anymore or support my family in supporting me. As far as social media goes, I didn’t really look at it much. The two biggest things that I did experience internally was two celebrities who I had much respect for: Questlove and Spike Lee. Those were kind of the two things that I took a look at.
On Her Hope to Use Her Art for Change:
I recently spoke at Harvard University about how we can use art for change. I sat with a lot of different folks in politics to see what can happen. So when I got the offer [to sing at the Inaugural Ball], the only thing I thought of was what I could do to fix this. We sent in an offer for how much we charge and they said, ‘Well we don’t have that,’ and the first thing I thought then was how I sang for Barack Obama and Michelle Obama free of charge. This is not a money thing.
Whether She Was Paid $750,000 to Perform Since Her Performance Was "Not a Money Thing":
No, I didn’t perform for free. One, it wasn’t $750,000, but my manager did negotiate my contract.
How She Came up with Her Response to Her Critics in "No Political Genius":
For the two days after the ball, I decided to take the weekend, turn my phone off, journal and just be quiet because it was so much noise. No one can hear if anyone is shouting. I went to bed when I got home, woke up at three o’clock in the morning, and all of a sudden all these words were just in my head. I spent maybe five or six hours writing down every word in my head. I didn’t get afraid of what I was saying or of offending anybody. I decided that if I was as affected by what was going on in politics as I was that it was my right to write about it. This past Sunday, I went into the studio and recorded five poems and a song. But it came to me out of nowhere and I had to record it.
On Not Meeting Trump During Festivities:
Originally I was supposed to perform directly after his first speech, and I had done that with Barack Obama before, so I was used to that kind of experience. And the woman who organized the event came and told me, "Now you’re going to go first and he’s going to go after you." I looked her in the eye and said, "My family has disowned me. If you decide to Google me, you’ll see that America is writing about me in their newspapers. I’m the black poster child for discord right now, and he’s not going to shake my hand?" So no, I didn’t get to meet him.
If She Sees His Decision Not to Meet Her as an Insult:
I know he has a lot of other things going on. I don’t know if, like Barack and Michelle, he’s listening to my album or that I’ll be on his summer playlist, so I don’t want to take it that way. I’d rather be optimistic and think that they’ll come another chance where I can talk to him. But I definitely did take the time enough to meet as many of the 60,000 people in the room as I could that night and begin to exchange information. And there were a lot of people who are excited to sit down and talk, who worked on his campaign. It seems that on Friday, Michele didn't really fully accomplish what she set out to. However, I will admit that her performance with Greene was great, and she sounded exceptional as always. Still, one has to wonder if she truly believed it was worth it in the end. Check out her full Billboard interview here and check out Michele and Greene's very Black presentation of "Intentional" to a very White crowd at the inaugural ball below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU61Jdp80Z8 Image via Splash

This year's Academy Awards nominations represented several historic firsts: the first Black woman to be nominated for editing Moonlight, Viola Davis becoming the first Black woman to have 3 Oscar nominations, and the number of Black women nominated in the supporting actress category. And despite this small step forward in the land of inclusion, our brethren and sistren on Twitter have a huge problem with the fact that Taraji P. Henson was not nominated for Best Actress for her role in Hidden Figures.

How they gon squeeze Meryl Streep in but ignore Taraji P. She Tried It! Dove DermaCare Scalp Anti-Dandruff 2 In 1 Shampoo And Conditioner

https://www.instagram.com/p/BPoNqDJD2CT/?taken-by=be_vic Just yesterday we told you about Dove's newest launch -- the Dermacare Scalp Anti-Dandruff 2 in 1 Shampoo and Conditioner -- and last night we got a chance to try the new product firsthand at Ursula Stephen The Salon in Brooklyn. Though dandruff has never been a problem for me, I am no foreigner to drying shampoos and one of the benefits of the Dermacare 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner is not just flake-free hair, but strands that are also moisturized, shiny, and not stripped of the essential oils needed for a healthy head of hair. I'm happy to say my hair feels like the brand made good on its promise. When I arrived at the salon, I was immediately taken to the wash bowl to have my hair cleansed with the new 2 in 1 duo. After three shampoos, I was prepared to hear a remark about how dry my hair is (I told you, I skimp on my deep conditioning), but instead, I was met with compliments about my curls and how healthy my hair is. Plus, my mane had bounce and a nice amount of softness for not having applied a separate rinse out conditioner or any other product after cleansing. When I sat in the stylist's chair, she only applied two products before blow-drying my hair: Dove's Absolute Quench Leave-In Detangler and the Supreme Créme Serum. Both members of the Advanced Hair Series were created specifically for women with curly, coarse hair and two drops of the serum was literally all that was rubbed through my hair to coat it and keep it moisturized. From there, my hair was quickly parted and sectioned in bantu knots which were taken down one by one and blow-dryed with a Twin Turbo blowdryer and Denman brush for extra straightening. After that, the famed Ursula Stephen worked her magic with the scissors. I only wanted a slight trim since I hadn't had my ends clipped since Mid-November, and the finished product was a sleek blowout that I'm happy to say is still as light, bouncy, shiny and frizz-free as it was when I left the shop 24 hours ago. I should mention that it's been raining non-stop since the time I entered the shop yesterday afternoon and the rainy, humid New York weather has not permeated my strands one bit. Shout out to Dove for having me covered in more ways than one.

Congratulations, You Played Yourself: Black People Recently Used As Pawns By White Folks

That's what many people are saying or have said to the well-known figures on this list, who in an attempt to get on, were used by everyone from politicians to TV networks. They may have thought things were going to work out well, or even had good intentions when they decided to call out certain people, side with unpopular individuals or just say the most out-of-pocket things, but it all backfired royally.

Paris Jackson: “I Consider Myself Black”

It's a rarity for children of celebrities to be featured in profiles for major publications. Sure, they are photographed by paparazzi and have thousands of followers on social media, but interviewing them in the hopes of having a thought-provoking conversation doesn't happen often. However, Paris Jackson isn't just any celebrity kid. https://www.instagram.com/p/BPqXPEPDkwQ/?taken-by=parisjackson&hl=en In fact, she's now an adult with incredible depth and beauty, and she showed that in her new cover story with Rolling Stone. A lot was covered, including a filling in the blank of what her childhood consisted of, the struggles she faced after the death of Michael Jackson, and what she thinks of the rumors about her father. But one very interesting part of the interview was Paris's acknowledgment of herself as a Black woman. She said she was told she was Black as a child and compares her appearance ("light skin" and blue eyes) to former Prison Break star Wentworth Miller. When addressing speculation about whether or not she's really Michael's biological child, Paris had no doubt that she is:
Paris is certain that Michael Jackson was her biological dad. She believes it with a fervency that is both touching and, in the moment, utterly convincing. "He is my father," she says, making fierce eye contact. "He will always be my father. He never wasn't, and he never will not be. People that knew him really well say they see him in me, that it's almost scary. "I consider myself black," she says, adding later that her dad "would look me in the eyes and he'd point his finger at me and he'd be like, 'You're black. Be proud of your roots.' And I'd be like, 'OK, he's my dad, why would he lie to me?' So I just believe what he told me. 'Cause, to my knowledge, he's never lied to me. "Most people that don't know me call me white," Paris concedes. "I've got light skin and, especially since I've had my hair blond, I look like I was born in Finland or something." She points out that it's far from unheard of for mixed-race kids to look like her – accurately noting that her complexion and eye color are similar to the TV actor Wentworth Miller's, who has a black dad and a white mom.
Ever since their faces were uncovered around the time of MJ's death, many have questioned if Paris, older brother Michael and younger brother Prince (Blanket), were actually the King of Pop's. But she is unphased by it all, as Paris's adoration for her father runs deep. So deep, in fact, that she has nine tattoos dedicated to him (it is important to note that she does have 50 in total). "He's brought me nothing but joy," she told the magazine. "So why not have constant reminders of joy?" Images via WENN and Instagram

Black Woman Told To Relax Her Hair To Get A Job At Harrods

The corporate backlash against natural hair strikes again--this time across the pond. A Black woman seeking a job at the world-famous and high-end Harrods department store in London was told she had to “chemically straighten her hair to get job.” The incident was even brought up in Parliament. “Black women are under pressure to remove braids or to use chemical relaxers on their hair to make it look ‘professional’, a Parliamentary committee has heard, as MPs on Wednesday urged the Government to clamp down on sexist workplace dress codes,” reported The Independent. Two parliamentary committees, for Petitions and for Women and Equalities, also issued a reported that claims that women are expected to wear high heels, make-up and revealing clothes by some employers. The report, was issued after Nicola Thorp, a receptionist at PricewaterhouseCoopers, was made to go home for not wearing high heels and, further, received no compensation. Thorp created a petition in 2016 that was signed by more than 150,000 and prompted an inquiry by the Women and Equalities Committee into how women are treated in the workplace. It was during Thorp’s presentations to the Petitions and Women and Equalities Committees that the incident about the Black job seeker’s hair came up. Thorp said: “I have worked in retail before, notably at Harrods. They are really quite bad and I ended up leaving as a result of that. In fact, in one of the interview sessions that I attended, the woman who held the interview—who was working for the agency, so Harrods might have diminished responsibility—would go around the room and say, 'You need a makeover, you need a makeover, you’re fine, you need a makeover'. She pointed to a Black girl who was being interviewed and said, ‘You can’t work for me unless you have your hair chemically relaxed, because your hair, as is, is not professional enough.’ We just sat there and nodded and agreed because we needed the job. People did what they were told." Harrods has not responded to the report or request from The Independent.

Ed Hartwell Claims He Didn’t Get A Call When Keshia Knight Pulliam Gave Birth

While we all found out that actress Keshia Knight Pulliam gave birth to daughter Ella Grace on Monday, her estranged husband, Ed Hartwell, got the memo just before the public. According to sources who spoke with Page Six, she didn't call him when she gave birth, and Hartwell didn't find out until Pulliam was already checked out of the hospital and back home. https://www.instagram.com/p/BLmkXkVgFcG/?taken-by=edhartwell "He didn’t get a call or anything [from Knight Pulliam or her family]," the sources told the publication, claiming his lawyer informed him after finding out. "Ed basically found out at the same time as the rest of the world." https://www.instagram.com/p/BPn2gyRgQ5B/?taken-by=keshiaknightpulliam&hl=en But before you start to feel bad for the guy, those same sources, which are reportedly close to Hartwell, said that he still isn't so sure he's the father of Ella Grace. He reportedly hasn't reached out to Pulliam and "currently has no plans to do so" due to his doubts. If you'll recall, Hartwell filed for divorce from Pulliam immediately following her pregnancy announcement. While both parties were taking their gripes to the media, they accused one another of infidelity. "I can’t say she’s been unfaithful. I can say she’s stayed out, she’s not came home, she’s went out of town … for three days, I don’t know what’s going on. I can say that," Hartwell told Page Six TV last summer. "I can’t say she was unfaithful. I can say she wanted to get in vitro, I can say she wanted to do some things to make sure she got pregnant. I just want to make sure it is mine." https://www.instagram.com/p/BMhO531gMl-/?taken-by=keshiaknightpulliam&hl=en But Pulliam told Entertainment Tonight she wasn't the one sidestepping in the marriage, instead, it was Hartwell. According to her, "early in my marriage, I was faced with this, I was ready to leave. I had divorce papers ready. I presented them to him. He begged for another chance. He said, ‘Please, I want my family.’ He said all of the right things and once I was pregnant, I did decide to give him that one last chance." Unfortunately for her, he wasn't serious, and eventually told her he filed for divorce. "I love who he pretended to be," Pulliam told Entertainment Tonight. "I love who he portrayed himself as, and the one mistake I made was, when he showed me who he really was, not believing him. Not believing him the first time. When he said he wanted our marriage, he wanted our family — I believed him. That’s why I gave him this one last chance, only for him to pull the rug from under me and blindside me." The pair are still in the midst of their messy split, and with the drama of that, alongside his paternity doubts, is it really a surprise that she didn't call him? We think not. Images via Instagram

Robert Levine." "A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile."
Moore had reportedly been on a respirator for more than a week before her death; earlier this morning reports listed her a being in "grave condition." The actress was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was just 33 and in 2011 she underwent elective surgery to remove a benign brain tumor. According to Wikpedia, "in 2014 friends reported that she has heart and kidney problems and is nearly blind." That's not the Moore that will be remembered by millions today, however. The six-time Emmy winner brought laughs to the public for years, first as part of The Dick Van Dyke Show and then on her own Mary Tyler Moore Show, followed by notable film roles in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Ordinary People, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. She also received a special Tony Award for her performance in Whose Life Is It Anyway? on Broadway. As part of her diabetes activism, Moore released the memoir, Growing Up Again: Life, Loves, and Oh Yeah, Diabetes, in 2009. Her first memoir, After All, which discussed her life as a recovering alcoholic, was published in 1995. Emery’s documentary, Black Women in Medicine, captures the tenacious African American women who have succeeded against all odds in the male-dominated medical field. A timely film, the work serves as an answer to two separate incidents last fall when airline crews seeking in-flight medical attention for passengers assumed that Black women offering help could not possibly be physicians, giving rise to the viral #whatadoctorlookslike hashtag. The film is presented by series distributor American Public Television (APT). Airing during Black History Month, Black Women in Medicine showcases rarely seen footage of Black women practicing medicine during critical operations, emergency room urgent care, and community wellness sessions. From Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first Black woman to receive a degree in medicine in 1864, to current trailblazers like Dr. Joycelyn Elders, the first African-American U.S. Surgeon General, and Dr. Jennifer Ellis, one of only six Black female cardiothoracic surgeons in America, the film demonstrates the heights one can attain with determination. Written, directed and produced by Emery, Black Women in Medicine is part of the filmmaker’s groundbreaking initiative to help increase the number of Black doctors in the United States from 4.5 percent in 2016 to 7 percent by 2030. To that end, in 2016 Emery launched a national campaign, “Changing the Face of Medicine,” together with Elders. Emery believes that “We all must challenge the status quo by replacing the false and debasing historical narrative regarding race, ethnicity, and gender with positive, empowering images of real women making a difference. My goal with Black Women in Medicine is to illuminate the issues and inspire a new generation of women of color to become doctors, as well as to help build a legacy for increasing access to health care in minority communities across the United States.” Emery, a quadriplegic, has triumphed over two chronic diseases to become an outspoken voice on the intersection between race, gender, and disability. She is the founder and CEO of URU, The Right to Be, Inc., a nonprofit content production company that tackles social issues via film, theater, publishing, and other arts-based initiatives. Emery’s work has been recognized by the Congressional Black Caucus with the Health Brain Trust Award in Journalism. If jamming to Jill Scott's extensive catalog isn't enough for you, you will be happy to know that she's bringing her writing skills and finesse to a line of greeting cards with Hallmark's beloved Mahogany brand. And according to the singer, the cards are going to help you celebrate, encourage you and even help you move on from a divorce. Hallmark's Mahogany announced the Jill Scott Collection, which will feature a design, editorial direction and even sound (no, you won't literally hear Jilly from Philly when you open the cards -- not just yet at least) inspired by Scott. Even the exclusive colors and textures of the cards are motivated by the singer. "The Mahogany brand is genuine, progressive and optimistic – values that are important to me and reflected in my music and poetry, and now, through my card collection," Scott said. "I was inspired by highlights within my own life – love, marriage, motherhood – in the writing behind these cards, and I am excited to be involved in a project that will give others another way to express their love to the people that matter most to them." The messages inside the cards are quintessential Jill, including a "desire" card that has just the right amount of steaminess for Valentine's Day:
Your touch is a zillion bolts of pleasure, pleasure that is insurmountable-- without comparison, without measure. Today, my every gesture reminded me of who's missing. My every breath, thought, blink, made me crave you. I want to have you. I want to bathe in you. I pray you want me, too. I desire you.
Well, damn. And we don't know about you, but we're also excited to share "You're So Fly!" and "Our Love Is Golden" cards with loved ones. The plan is for the Jill Scott Collection to expand to notebooks, mugs, pouches and trinket trays next year. But so far, the collection includes 20 cards that are being rolled out for Valentine's Day. Other holidays her cards will celebrate include Mother's Day, Father's Day and graduation. There are also cards commemorating friendship, love and support. They will cost the usual <del>exorbitant</del> amount for cards, which is a range of $3.99-$5.59. You can check the cards out on the Mahogany website, as a few have already been released. You can also see them for yourself in person at select Hallmark Gold Crown stores. Images via WENN, Hallmark Mahogany

10 Things We Loved About Part 1 Of The New Edition Story

The excitement surrounding the premiere of BET’s New Edition Story was almost palpable. Yesterday, hours before the tv movie ever aired, New Edition was trending on Twitter. Folks were excited. And after watching it, they had every reason to be. Check out a few things we noticed, enjoyed and appreciated about the first part of this story.
The Budget
Let’s be real, we all know good and well that tv movies have a certain stigma around them. The stereotype is that they are not well produced, networks often skimp on costs and sadly, it shows in the final product. But this movie right here? BET spent some good money on this. And if they didn’t, they made all the right moves to make it look like they did.

Keke Palmer Explains “Sexual Intimidation”& Says She’s Pressing Charges Against Trey Songz

Earlier this week, we wrote about Keke Palmer and the drama she found herself in when her “friend” Trey Songz used her image in a video for his song “Pick Up the Phone.” For those of you who missed it, Keke expressed her outrage and disappointment in Trey Songz, who’s known her since she was 12-years-old, for essentially deceiving her into being in his music video, a video for a song that has lyrics that say, “Grab her pussy like Keke, like Keke, like Keke.” Recently, Palmer sat down with Larry King and the two discussed the incident. Larry asked her what we all wanted to know, what did she mean by “sexual intimidation”? “I mean just that. Sexual intimidation. I feel as a female, often I’m put in situations where, sometimes males will use their masculinity, their sexuality to taunt you. I hate to have to bring and say that and make it known but I mean, look, I ain’t the first person that’s gone through. People have gone through this all the time, in college, in high school. But these aren’t the things that I’ve experienced. So this was kinda one of my first major experiences. It would be like you going to a party where the biggest jock is there and the whole time he’s like, ‘You can get screwed. You can get this you can get that. You ain’t no little girl no more.’” Then he asked another pertinent question. Are you planning to take legal action? “Yes, I am. I mean the video is down now but I mean more so—it’s out and it’s over— but I feel more so, my point isn’t to say— it’s not just specifically about this person, this guy and what he did. It’s the overall idea that you can’t just do stuff to people and it’s all right, no matter who you are.” Welp… You can watch Keke’s interview in the video below. Veronica Wells is the culture editor at MadameNoire.com. Take Care Of Your Hair And Body With The “New Year New You” Workout Series

It's a new year, and with it should come new motivation to do better and be better. So when you say you want to make your health a priority in 2017, are you taking the right steps to make that happen? For those who struggle to get active due to worries over their hair, the New Year New You workout series can not only help you sweat, but it can also give you the tools to take care of your natural hair before and after a workout. https://www.instagram.com/p/BPQSfWjDjq4/?taken-by=madamenoiredotcom The series, which is available for women in the New York/New Jersey/tristate area, is brought to you by the popular hair care platforms Natural Partners in Crime and Naturally She's Dope. It was put together in the hopes of making fitness and wellness a priority. No more excuses! However, you shouldn't have to sacrifice your strands completely to be active. So how do you take care of both body and hair? That's what the New Year New You series aims to help you figure out. Earlier this month I had the opportunity to check out the first session, which took place at Ripley-Grier Studios. https://www.instagram.com/p/BPQYSeUg-nH/?taken-by=naturallyshesdope There were three in a day, but I participated in the second session at 12 p.m. The workout session, clocking in at one hour, was led by sought-after trainers Jeff London (@KingLondonSupreme) and Scott Bernard (@Body_by_Burnhard). Both men conducted 30-minute sessions that included everything from dancing to "Palance" and using resistance bands to hold some excruciatingly long squats. By the end of the whole thing, I was covered in sweat and more than satisfied with my workout. It was the right combination of cardio through dance as well as organized moves focused on arms, core and those glutes, all of which are hot spots many are looking to get right and tight. https://www.instagram.com/p/BPQCuebAxx-/?taken-by=naturallyshesdope In between both 30-minute sessions, there was a "hair break." During the pause, we were given instructions on how to take care of our hair after working out, as well as recommendations for the type of products that can clean up a gunk-filled scalp, co-washes to clean things up, and shampoos to cleanse hair without drying it out. At the end of the workout series, we were given a bag stocked with full-sized products from EDEN BodyWorks and Made Beautiful. On top of that, we were also given juices and snacks to help everyone recuperate after a tough hour of fitness. Score! https://www.instagram.com/p/BPQJ-EMAOGO/?taken-by=naturallyshesdope You get all of that for only $20, folks. https://www.instagram.com/p/BPQM31XgCa8/?taken-by=naturallyshesdope But it's not the material perks that truly impressed me. Instead, it was the focus on equipping all of the women (and men) in the room with not only moves they can do either at home or at the gym, but also tips to help take care of hair while still keeping activity the prime concern. The good news is, Naturally She's Dope and Natural Partners in Crime hope to keep the series going every month. If you're interested in checking it out, the next series of sessions takes place on February 18. Follow both hair platforms for more deets on specific times and the locale for your date with sweat.

Periods. Can't live with them, can't live without them -- until menopause that is. If you find yourself complaining about your period to yourself and others, then you will be able to fully appreciate all of the struggle mentioned in this slideshow. From leaking on yourself in public to doubling up on tampons and pads only to barely bleed, your period can be quite petty. Here are a few examples of why we think Aunt Flo is Queen Petty.
You put on everything you could find in preparation for your period, and it doesn't come.
You were ready, and you had that feeling that things were on the move, so you put on the most secure sanitation pad you could find. Hours later, you head back to the bathroom and find that you got played. Nothing happened. Your discomfort was for naught.

BET kept promoting the second episode of the New Edition story saying that the drama was on the way. And they didn't lie. Part two of the movie was all about conflict. Conflict between the boys, the boys and the record label, conflict between the mothers, between Bobby and himself and even between old manager and new. Check out the memorable and enlightening moments from part 2.

Venus Williams Celebrating Her Advancement To The Australian Open Final Is The Cutest Thing

In the midst of so much depressing and terrifying news, we’re always excited share something good, something phenomenal that a Black woman has accomplished. This week it’s Venus Williams.

.@Venuseswilliams is through to the women's final #AusOpen pic.twitter.com/3Jdo8Zlag9
— #AusOpen (@AustralianOpen) January 26, 2017
The 36-year-old advanced to a Grand Slam singles final for the first time since 2009 where she will challenge her baby sister Serena. The Williams sisters have won 29 major single titles and will compete on Saturday to determine who will take home the 30th. It’s a win win for Williams fans. In fact, the mere fact that Venus has advanced to this level is more than remarkable. As the 13th seed, Williams defeated CoCo Vandeweghe 6-7 (7-3), 6-2, and 6-3, to become the oldest woman to reach the Australian Open semifinals. During the on-court interview after her the match against Vandeweghe, Venus said, “Oh my gosh, it means so much, mostly because she played so well. There was never a moment of relaxation, ever so to be able to get to the final through a match like this, I’m just, I’m excited about American tennis, as well. Everyone has their moment in the sun, maybe mine has gone on a while, but I’d like to keep that going. I’ve got nothing else to do, so let’s keep it going.” The sisters will compete against each other in what will be Venus’s 73rd Grand Slam event, a feat that represents another broken record. The last time she competed in a major title final, back in 2008, she was defeated by Serena. This will be the 15th time the Williams sisters meet each other in a final, where Serena is more often the victorious one. Still, Serena is not sleeping on her big sister. “She’s my toughest opponent- nobody has ever beaten me as much as Venus has. No matter what happens, we’ve won. A Williams is going to win this tournament.” Straight like dat. We’re so happy and proud of these two! Veronica Wells is the culture editor at MadameNoire.com. This time around, there were a few Black women serving face on the cover of the popular issue. Lupita Nyong'o, sitting pretty for her work in Queen of Katwe, Aja Naomi King, who was quite memorable (so we've heard) in Birth of Nation, Ruth Negga of Loving and Janelle Monáe, who stood out big time in both Hidden Figures and Moonlight, got cover girl status. They join actresses including Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, Amy Adams and both Dakota and Elle Fanning, who are all being lauded by the magazine for their work on the big screen this year. The beauties got the chance to shoot alone and were captured by famed photog Annie Leibovitz: You already know Lupita can't do any wrong in front of the camera. King, who is also on How to Get Away With Murder, may not have been nominated for her work in Birth of a Nation, but she looked like an award in this shot. Monáe skipped the ball gowns for her signature suit and bright lip. Her transition from music to movies has been pretty phenomenal so far. And Negga, whose had a breakout year thanks to her roles in not only Loving but also the AMC series Preacher, stood out in a striking black and white photograph. Out of all the ladies in the issue, it's Adams, Portman and Negga who are nominated for Academy Awards this year, specifically in the Best Actress category (both of Monáe's films, Moonlight and Hidden Figures, are nominated for best picture), but if the rest of the sistah included keep up the great work, they'll likely be up for their own Oscars in the next few years. Images via Vanity Fair by Annie Leibovitz
