Barraza/WENN.com[/caption] While Teyana Taylor has already revealed to us that she keeps her abs toned and body looking right with the help of dance, the 26-year-old singer is letting us in on the skin-care secret. In a recent photo she posted to Instagram, she let her followers in on her must-have process for removing hair from her body: laser hair removal. Tilted back on a medical chair, Taylor struck a pose and looked cool, calm and collected. "I wonder if this shit gone hurt," she teasingly captioned the photo. Interestingly enough, the laser treatment has gained more of a following with celebrities like Christina Milian and Nene Leakes revealing that they swear by it. Prior to now, women of darker skin tones were actually warned to shy away from laser treatment because they were only effective for lighter skin tones with darker hair. Now, however, "the laser detects the hair exclusively by focusing on the pigment cells that reside in the hair follicle," Carlos A. Charles, M.D., founder of Derma di Colore, told SELF. After, the laser actually burns each hair all the way to the root, ensuring hair won't grow again after several sessions.

My babe @angela_mk bout get my whoooooollleeeeeee bawdy hair freeeeeeee careee freeeeeee permanentlyyyyyyyyyy!!! Therefore, the machines in past years couldn't tell the difference between the dark hairs and the dark skin. But now, with the advancement of technology, ladies of color can now indulge in the treatment with no worries. "I use the Nd:YAG technology," Bay Harbor Perfection founder and Taylor's certified laser hair removal professional Angela Kogan, C.L.H.R.P said. Apparently, yhe wavelengths of that technology are longer than those in the traditional Alexandrite laser hair removal devices, making it better at recognizing the difference between dark hair and dark skin. Ladies, have you ever tried laser hair removal? If so, share with us your experience and results in the comments below.

Trump Has Already Started Scaling Back Obamacare

Trump's administration and its Republican allies in Congress billed this order as a first step in their push to repeal Obamacare, which Trump himself described as "a disaster" on his campaign trail. ABC News reported that vice president Mike Pence, senior adviser Jared Kushner, and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus were all present when Trump signed the order they hope will repeal the insurance that covers over 20 million people. One of the memorable moments in Barack Obama's presidency, Obamacare, however, ran Republicans to vow that they'd repeal the act they believe was a burden and damaging to insurers, drug makers and patients. So, what does this all mean. Is Obamacare officially repealed? No. There was no announcement about what was actually changed by Trump or his administration, but the language used in the order consistently referred to the insurance being an economic burden. The order says that until the ACA is repealed, the executive brand must take actions to "minimize the unwarranted and regulatory burdens of the Act, and prepare to afford the States more flexibility and control to create a more free and open healthcare market." In addition, it urges for leaders of all federal agencies to prevent any Obamacare that would cause a regulatory or fiscal burden. But while Trump and his team are so eager to repeal Obamacare, there's nothing in place that mirrors its inclusiveness, making millions who rely on the insurance for pre-existing conditions scared. The new White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer didn't even offer details on exactly how this new order would be carried out when questioned by reporters earlier to its signing. On "This Week," Pence claimed that patients shouldn't worry about losing their healthcare, stating, “Any American who has insurance today, through an ‘Obamacare’ exchange or through the Obama plan itself, should have no anxiety about losing their insurance."

However, instead of fans and average Jane's and Joe's reading her for filth, Michele's fiancé and longtime manager Doug “Biggs” Ellison decided to share his thoughts as well. It's apparent that Ellison respected Michele's decision to perform, but he wasn't too happy with director Spike Lee, who said he wouldn't be using the R&B singers music following her decision to perform at Trump’s inauguration.

Good Morning Folks. It's nothing new by a long shot for the global pop star who won the CFDA's Fashion Icon award in 2014. But the "Consideration" singer, who has scaled back from social media for the past two years, surprised us all with a series of photos she posted on Saturday (Jan. 21). So, what were the photos? On Saturday, Rihanna, like a number of celebrities, stood and marched in solidarity with millions of women and men for the Women's March. With marches being held across the nation, she made an appearance in New York, protesting against President Donald Trump outside his residence. And in posting supportive and uplifting messages about the march ("So proud of the women around the world who came together today for pro-choice."), her attire was equally as lit.

protest looQs 🐯

A photo posted by badgalriri (@badgalriri) on Jan 21, 2017 at 7:17pm PST

She kept things classy and chic in distressed straight leg denim jeans, pumps, a dad cap, a tutu, a hoodie, and of course a fur wrap for that added drama. Decked out in bubblegum pink, her hoodie caught the most attention, boasting of the saying: "This p***y grabs back." Apparently, the online market has taken a toll on their company, which was founded by designer Max Azria in 1989, and they're hoping to cope with the debut burden by reportedly axing some of its 570 independent, worldwide boutique locations. There are 175 stores BCBG in the U.S. alone. In the midst of closing their doors, they will focus more on e-commerce and shops within shops was announced earlier this week. Seth Lubove, a spokesman for BCBG at Sitric & Co. told Bloomberg that the brand had "too large a physical retail footprint." "In order to remain viable, the brand — like so many others in it's industry — must realign its business to effectively compete in today's shopping environment," he concluded. Azria first opened the company's first boutique in Los Angeles in 1992. It's tough to say goodbye but their 25 year run has been impressive. And online shopping is just a click away!

If you thought it was hard finding love as an everyday woman juggling work and a whole host of other responsibilities, then meeting the right one as a well-known figure has to be 10 times worse. For rapper, TV personality and behind-the-scenes influencer MC Lyte, she's been open about the fact that it's been tough. She revealed in 2015 that she had been using dating sites like OkCupid in an attempt to find the right match because she was too busy to go out and meet people in person. She actually said that what she's looking for is an "older man with a young spirit," someone with a good sense of humor who is also equally yoked, and a man with respect for the women in his family. Yes, she's swapped out her old affinity for roughnecks in the hopes of finding something deeper: "That went out a while ago, didn't it?" Also in 2015, while visiting The Real, Lyte talked about going the traditional route when dating. At the time, she said she wasn't interested in running after a man. "I'm ready to settle, well, not settle for anything but settle down," she said. "I'm looking to call who called me first. We often make it too easy and available and men like to chase. But I don't know how much you ought to listen to me because I ain't got one yet." But things have changed. After trying old-fashioned dating, online dating and just going it alone, living the single life for quite some time, Lana Michelle Moorer has found love. She's also sending the message to fans and followers who are single that waiting on God was the key: https://www.instagram.com/p/BPiF4z4lWvP/?taken-by=mclyte Who doesn't love Black love? Anyone could see that the only reason they wanted her on the show was so they could have a Black face promoting their narrow-minded and racist-leaning interests. They believed her mere presence would prove that they weren’t racist and to convince a couple of Black folks to vote for Mitt Romney and then Donald Trump. But just as soon as Trump took office, Fox News realized that there was no need for Ms. Dash. I’m sure, to the people at Fox, the election of Donald Trump proved that, once again, this is a White man’s world. And her services as a Black woman were no longer needed. And so she was dismissed, terminated, fired. Though Dash hasn’t been seen on the air since September, it wasn’t until recently that a representative told The Hollywood Reporter that the decision not to renew her contract was made last fall. Apparently, Dash was the last to get the memo because even right now, her Twitter bio says @Foxnews contributor. And while she might not have accepted the reality of her situation, Black Twitter was more than happy to celebrate her termination.

For months Stacey Dash talked shit ..
After inauguration... “He Basically Called Me A Monkey”: John Legend On Recent Run-In With Racist Photog

Last week, Chrissy Teigen tweeted about a less than pleasant encounter with a photographer at John F. Kennedy airport in NYC. While walking around the airport with husband John Legend, being addressed by paparazzi, one in particular made an incredibly inflammatory comment about the musician:

Paparazzi at JFK just asked me "if we evolved from monkeys, why is John Legend still around?" - and people wonder why celebs lose it in pics
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) January 19, 2017
While Teigen said they didn't feed the troll by responding at the time, Legend has since opened up about the incident to Variety. While speaking about Season 2 of Underground, which Legend will appear on as Frederick Douglass and which he is an executive producer of, Legend said the comment was shocking but definitely not surprising. "We were right next to each other and we looked at each other like, 'Did he really just say that?' And he really said it. He basically called me a monkey," Legend said. "Black folks have had to deal with being called monkeys for a long time and dehumanization has always been kind of a method of racism and subjugation of Black people and that’s just part of American history — and it’s part of the present, apparently." Legend pointed out the many times detractors tried to call former President Obama and Michelle monkeys, something that we also pointed out was happening more and more as Obama's term came to an end. "We saw it with the former president, Obama, whenever people wanted to discount him or discount his wife, they compared them to apes," he said. "And we’ve seen that frequently. I’m not hurt by someone saying that to me because I’m smarter, I’m stronger. I look down on that person that would say something like that. But it’s a shame that that still exists." Check out Legend's comments below:

.@JohnLegend opens up at #VarietyStudio about his recent racist airport encounter with wife @chrissyteigen: "It's a shame that still exists" pic.twitter.com/BhZGsUvJyJ
— Variety (@Variety) January 22, 2017
 Images via WENN

Good News For Sprint Customers : Jay Z’s Tidal Coming Your Way

Despite the new partnership, artists (Beyonce, Madonna, Alica Keys, Rihanna, etc.) will still remain partial owners and receive a $75 million annual artist marketing fund. The interesting and most rewarding aspects of the acquisition are the benefits for Sprint users. Customers will now be able to access Tidal's service with exclusive content on their phones. Talk about an early -- or maybe late -- Christmas gift! The new deal levels the playing field for the otherwise "struggling" streaming service which now has a larger platform for distribution. According to CNN tech, Spotify and Apple Music serve as lead music streaming service providers with 40 and 20 million subscribers, respectively. This might change since Sprint's customer base totals 45 million and the exposure should increase the ROI and monthly user numbers. This strategy seems to move Tidal's position to the forefront of the streaming industry, but Jay-Z may want to consider partnering with lead music executives to enable even more exclusive content or possibly selling the entire company to Sprint. However, something tells me this "hustla" will not remain defeated. Quindara Lazenbury is the definition of #bosslady with the woes of adulthood to keep the ball rolling. Serious Question: Is Sex With A Friend Always A Bad Idea?

0
0
Last week, the MN team got into a spirited conversation about the line between lovers and friends and whether it should ever be crossed. Specifically, whether it's ever a good idea to turn a friend into a lover and nothing more. [caption id="attachment_726515" align="aligncenter" width="1068"] shutterstock[/caption] The impetus for the debate was a clip from last Monday's episode of "K. Michelle: My Life" in which the singer gets into a physical fight with her friend who apparently went down on her and thought that sexual act meant they were going to be together. Meanwhile, K. Michelle thought nothing of the night other than physical pleasure and went back to cozying up with her fiancé. As K told the cameras, there's a simple explanation for her lesbian sexcapade: "I have drunken nights where I like to get some head in the bed." But that's now how it works for friend Melisia who claims K. Michelle told her she loved her and wanted to be with her the night they had sex. As far as she's concerned, "You can't have sex with me and then the next minute be like, 'I'm cool on you.'"

Fair enough. But whether K. Michelle whispered sweet nothings in her girl's ear or not, did the simple act of sex lead her on? According to some of our editors, that answer is yes. "Why would you have sex with your friend if you know she has feelings for you?" asked one staffer, to which I facetiously, yet seriously, retorted: "Happens everyday B." There was a follow-up statement along the lines of, "To go down on someone you have to have feelings for them" that again put the blame on K. Michelle for being too carefree with both her vagina and her friend's emotions to which I couldn't personally relate. However, the murky waters of friend-turned-cutty buddy is a familiar tale. I've personally never crossed that line, though not for lack of trying. But I vividly remember calling bullsh-t on the friend who claimed he didn't want to jeopardize our friendship over a one-night thing. As you can deduce from my tone, I was out here like Chaka Khan, "I'd gladly risk it all!" But because hindsight is 20/20, I can now see not crossing that line was probably the best move, as I doubt my boy and I would still be friends 10 years later if we'd taken it there, no matter how casual I claimed the encounter would be. Which brings me to the whole concept of friends with benefits and why it needs a new name. The idea behind such an arrangement is that no feelings are involved, just sex, which is cool if that's your cup of tea. But if someone is a friend, there are feelings involved. They don't necessarily have to be romantic or sexual, but there's some level of emotion, concern, loyalty, commitment, etc. present. And if you couple that emotion with sex, someone is bound to want more from the encounter than an orgasm because the very nature of your relationship isn't casual. Though Melisia may have jumped the gun a bit by assuming sex with K. Michelle was going to turn into a union beyond friendship, I have to admit she's probably right when she says, "If we just friends, let's not f-ck then." Do you agree?

A Woman Is Suing Kirk Frost For Child Support Of Their 6-Month-Old Son

If you ever watched “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta,” you know that Kirk Frost and Rasheeda have had their problems. He cheated on her while she was pregnant and then when the baby was born, requested that she give the child a DNA test to prove that he was indeed his baby. Hot mess.

#tbt #us #frostfam #bosschick #happyanniversary 🙌

A photo posted by Kirk (@frost117) on Dec 22, 2016 at 3:38pm PST

But I didn’t get too bent out of shape over it because I believed that this story of infidelity was one completely contrived for television. After all, before all this cheating, Kirk and Rasheeda really didn’t have a storyline. But new developments are causing me to question that theory. Recently, our sister site Bossip, got a tip about a 27-year-old woman who is allegedly Kirk’s mistress. After Bossip did some digging, they found that not only has this woman been Kirk’s mistress for over a year, the two have a child together. A young one, like six-months-old young. The story gets even messier when you consider the fact that Jasmine Washington, the mother of Kirk’s child, is also suing him because she stopped financing both she and her son’s lifestyle once she broke things off with him. Since Kirk, 47, has stopped supporting his son, Washington filed a petition to establish paternity and seek child support. According to other documents obtained by Bossip, Washington said that during their affair Kirk, who is the father to five other children, encouraged her not to work while he gave her a living allowance and even a car as an incentive to stay with him. But around Halloween, when Washington broke up with Kirk he began to deny the child, stopped giving both her and the child money and took the car back. As a result, Washington said she’s in a “state of financial distress” and is concerned about paying for daycare because she hasn’t been able to find a job. Washington is requesting that Kirk pay $2,500 a month in child support because she believes he is making $10,000 a month due to multiple real estate properties. But she wants the judge to force him to reveal his actual income. Interesting, indeed. Check out the receipts below.

For many stars, working out is just something that has to be done to keep them in good condition. A few sessions with a trainer here, a few dance rehearsals there. It's not their favorite thing to do, but it's necessary. However, for other stars, going hard in the gym is something they thoroughly enjoy. Not only is fitness a necessity for them, but it is something they have fun with. Keshia Knight Pulliam Gives Birth To Daughter, Ella Grace

https://www.instagram.com/p/BMhO531gMl-/?taken-by=keshiaknightpulliam&hl=en After a 2016 marked by her marriage to Ed Hartwell, the announcement of her pregnancy, the shocking end of her marriage in the summer and court battles and conflict following the relationship's demise, it was a tough year. Even Pulliam admitted that things couldn't have gotten much worse: https://www.instagram.com/p/BNMsT1NgIIL/?taken-by=keshiaknightpulliam&hl=en But the good news is that 2017 is getting off to a positive start for the actress. The 37-year-old just gave birth to her first child. It's unclear when exactly her daughter entered the world, but Pulliam introduced Ella Grace to her fans and followers on Instagram earlier today. The child made her social media debut in furry socks in the hands of her mother (rocking Tiffany blue nails): https://www.instagram.com/p/BPn2gyRgQ5B/?hl=en&taken-by=keshiaknightpulliam As for the newborn's name, Pulliam told PEOPLE last year that "Ella Grace" came from the fact that the actress sees her daughter as her saving grace. "When I tell you through all of this the grace of God has so been with us and has covered us and protected us — she’s been my saving grace to get through it," she said. "It’s knowing that it’s not about me. Knowing that on days when I want to curl up in the bed, pull the covers over my head and cry until my eyes fall out, that is not an option because she feels everything I feel and right now, it is bigger than me — it’s about her. It is about her being okay." It seems that Ella Grace is just fine. She's here and healthy, and Pulliam has her saving grace in her hands. Congratulations, mama!

Woman Explains Bringing “White Women Voted For Trump” Poster To DC Women’s March

0

If you were online this past Saturday when the Women's March on Washington and demonstrations in solidarity were taking place around the world, you probably saw a lot of the elaborate signs being held up by women, men and children. One particular sign kept it pretty simple, but sparked quite the conversation when it was spotted in the crowd in D.C. and shared on social media: https://www.instagram.com/p/BPihsdCA4Bm/?taken-by=ms_peoples The woman holding the sign and sucking on a lollipop unbothered is Angela Peoples, the co-director of the LGBTQ organization GetEqual. While people felt her sign was divisive, as Peoples told The Root, she felt it was a necessary message not to get uncomfortable about but to face. "We need to be really honest about why we’re here," she said. "There was a sense for me of being at the march and in community with folks that were wanting to resist this horrifying reality, but also not wanting folks to get complacent." As for the response to her sign, Peoples said many of the White women in the crowd either made sure that she knew they didn't vote for Trump or were admittedly ashamed by those who did. "Most were saying, 'Not this White woman,' or 'No one I know!' I’d say, '[Fifty-three percent] of White women voted for Trump. That means someone you know, someone who is in close community with you, voted for Trump. You need to organize your people.' And some people said, 'Oh, I’m so ashamed.' Don’t be ashamed; organize your people." She continued, "That’s why the photo was such a great moment to capture, because it tells the story of White women in this moment wanting to just show up in a very superficial way and not wanting to do the hard work of making change, of challenging their own privilege. You’re here protesting, but don’t forget: the folks that you live with every single day—and, probably some of the women that decided to come to the march—voted for Trump, made the decision to vote against self-interests to maintain their White supremacist way of life." Peoples also said that she felt like her experience at the march in D.C. was "very White." She pointed out the belief by many that when you talk about feminism in this country, the focus is on the experiences of White women. But will these same women get behind Black women? "I definitely have hope," Peoples said. "But I don’t think it’s a matter of White women becoming interested in our issues; I need them to recognize they are implicit or complicit benefactors of systems like White supremacy and patriarchy—and that’s a problem. Because issues of reproductive justice, wage issues, those are our issues, too. We don’t need them to take on a new set of issues; we need them to understand the impact of these particular issues when it comes to race and gender and different experiences. They need to make adjustments to how they’re organizing, what they’re advocating for and how they show up to these systems based on that understanding." As for other Black women who voiced their frustration with the idea of White women only coming out to stand up for their own interests, Peoples understands them and extends her love. "The only words I have are, 'I love you and I see you,'" she said. "When Black women expressed those feelings, I saw White women and gay men [saying it’s divisive]—some of the same sh-t that people are saying to me about the poster. That also hurts because we’re only being seen when we’re coming together behind you. When we’re speaking about our pain, when we’re asking you to show up, then it’s divisive, then it’s somehow detrimental to the broader cause. That’s simply not true." She continued, "But one thing I do know is, Black women, we got us; we’re continuing to organize our own communities, we’re continuing to hold folks accountable across genders, across race. I would actually say to White women, if you want to be a part of a powerful movement that’s going to get something done, you need to get behind and trust Black women, trust Black femmes, trust Black trans women. Because we are making this way out of no way. If you’re a White woman thinking, 'What’s next? Everything seems insurmountable,' welcome to the f--king party. Listen to a Black woman." Say what you want, but Peoples made some really strong points -- or as I like to say, "She was preachin'." Check out her full interview with The Root and share your thoughts on her sign and the rationale behind creating it.

When Letting Go Is Not An Option: We Found Barack And Michelle In The British Virgin Islands

Out of all of the lackluster moments from last Friday's inauguration ceremonies, the absolute worst moment might have been (for me at least) watching former President Barack Obama and Michelle hop on Air Force One to Palm Springs. With a wave goodbye, it was the official "deuces!" The end of an era. To say they're now "chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool" would be an understatement. Despite the convoy that has to follow them for security purposes, the pair are keeping a low profile. Mr. Obama was spotted enjoying trips to the gym as well as a round of golf. According to Splash News, the couple stayed at the desert hilltop home of Spanish ambassador James Costos for the weekend. It's quite swanky, landing a feature in Architectural Digest in 2015. After just a few days of relaxation on the West Coast, Mr. and Mrs. Obama were seen heading out of Palm Springs on a private jet owned by business magnate Richard Branson. They were snapped with the locals in the British Virgin Islands on Monday: https://www.instagram.com/p/BPpirH-AXLz/?taken-by=theshaderoom&hl=en They were reportedly on their way to Necker Island, which is owned by Branson. There are sprawling beaches and all sorts of wildlife on the luxury isle. According to Virgin Limited Edition, you can feed and hang with lemurs, flamingos and giant tortoises during a stay on the 74-acre luxury island. Considering that you have to take a boat to get there, privacy should be guaranteed for the couple. While we miss them immensely already (obviously, or we wouldn't be tracking their every move right now), it's nice to know they're getting some much-deserved time for themselves -- and with flamingos! #bawse Images via Splash and Instagram

Boy, Bye: Judge Rejects Lamar Sally’s Request For More Child Support

0

At this point, everyone, including the legal system, is starting to see the joke behind Lamar Sally and his perpetual scheme to drain his ex-wife Sherri Shepherd of every dime she has. Though Shepherd was already shelling out $4,100 in monthly child support, just last month, Sally was requesting more. He argued that Shepherd was earning more money than when the judgment was first made and in addition to wanting more of it, he was also requesting that Shepherd pay an additional $75,000 in legal fees. But a California judge shut all of that down, throwing out Sally’s request. The judge determined that New Jersey and not California has jurisdiction over the child support case Sally attempted to take to California. We wouldn’t be surprised if he tried his luck over there. We doubt it will work. Congratulations to Sherri on this win. Veronica Wells is the culture editor at MadameNoire.com. The survey by cheapcarinsurance.net, an online auto insurance site, showed that racial profiling "remains a problem in America and that the public's relationship with police forces is in desperate need of improvement," reported The Car Connection. What the survey actually found was that 19.9 percent of white respondents have been able to talk their way out of traffic tickets, while 34.13 percent of African Americans said that they've never been able to get out of a ticket. Men had the higher percentage of getting out of tickets, but they too were pulled over the most. "When broken down by race, African-American drivers had been pulled over more than any other group (3.87 times), while Asian Americans had been stopped the least (2.52 times)," reported The Car Connection. The survey also asked the respondents how they felt about being pulled over. And the racial groups had different responses. "White drivers were the most likely to feel guilty (26.93 percent), while Hispanic drivers were least likely to feel that way (12.03 percent). Meanwhile, African American drivers were most likely to say that they never felt guilty at traffic stops (6.13 percent), while Hispanic drivers were the least likely to say so (2.87 percent)," reported The Car Connection. Have you ever been able to talk your way out of a traffic ticket?
