While there are a handful of women out there who appreciate a man who is one seriously sharp dresser—a man with a wardrobe just as big as a woman’s if not bigger, who has a different blazer for every occasion—it’s safe to say that most women do not notice the size of a man’s wardrobe. Not only that, but we don’t notice if they’re up with trends or can match their t-shirts to their eyes. Maybe that’s why most men don’t pay attention to those things. We’ve let them off the hook, and don’t they seem much happier for it? Have you ever been rushing around to get ready for an event, emptying out your closet to find that perfect outfit, while your partner sat happily watching TV because he’d been ready an hour before you? And when that happened, you probably thought, “Huh. That looks nice.” That could be you. Here is why dressing like a man could make you happy.

Wear a watch
Women don’t tend to wear watches as often as men do, which is a shame, because they’re quite elegant looking. But furthermore, if you wear a watch, then you don’t need to check your phone each time you need to check the time. Checking your phone usually leads to checking your Facebook, responding to a text, and being pulled out of the moment. Reflect your core character
Women often choose outfits to reflect the way they are feeling that day or even that hour. If you’re feeling social and eccentric, you wear a bright yellow bell-shaped skirt; if you’re feeling minimalist and in-touch with nature, you go with the all-white frock. But keeping around enough clothes to reflect every single mood requires a lot of shopping and closet space. Men tend to wear clothes that reflect who they are at their core—they can cut down their wardrobe big time this way. Keep belts and bags basic
That bright purple belt and zebra-print bag are cute, but they cost a lot, and don’t match much. Men keep these types of accessories simple. Well, they don’t usually buy bags but for the purpose of this article, let’s say they did. And if they did, they’d stick to black, brown, white, grey and one poppy, statement purse. Having 12 poppy statement purses is just overwhelming. [caption id="attachment_677822" align="alignleft" width="461"]Image may be NSFW.Clik here to view.

Make your outfit an afterthought
You probably take a long time to get dressed because you give yourself that much time. If you set aside an hour to get dressed, you’re going to take that full hour. Meanwhile, you’d be surprised how skilled you are at picking out a great outfit in 20 minutes if 20 minutes was all you had. So, try it and save more time for things like snuggling your partner and tidying up around your home. Jackets aren’t accessories
Men don’t see jackets as accessories—jackets are utilitarian items that keep you warm! And as such, men tend to have something like one black or grey peacoat for the winter, one light jacket for the fall, and one even lighter one for summer evenings. If you stuck to this rule, you could save yourself a lot of time picking out a jacket each night. Furthermore, while that bright pink blazer with the quirky floral shoulder patches is cute, it doesn’t go with much, and you only get to wear it once every few months. Repeat items
It’s okay if you wear the same pants twice a week or the same cocktail dress for two date nights in a month. (Most) men do not worry about repeating clothing items and have a more realistic idea of how much everyone else is even paying attention to what they wear. Match the shoe to the activity
You may focus on matching your shoe to your outfit, but consider matching it to the activity. For example, if the activity will be walking around museums all day, go with the cute flats instead of the cute heels. And if the activity will be bumming around some beach bars, wear your flip flops instead of the cute wedges that sink into the sand. Don’t try to change your shape
Could you imagine a life without waist trainers, shapewear, tummy-sucking dresses and butt-lifting jeans? Men live their lives without those things and seem to be pretty happy. And the truth is no waist trainer or shapewear can drastically change the shape of your body, so you’re putting yourself through that torture for little benefit. Don’t consult your friends
Don’t call your friends and ask what they’re wearing, or text three of them photos of your outfit options. You’ll only end up more confused and insecure than you started. Men don’t let anyone else tell them what to wear. (Well, maybe their significant others but as we already see, we might be overly concerned with clothes). Dress down when you can
If one of your biggest joys in life is dressing up then by all means, keep at it. But if you feel it’s a bit of a pain, and you do it because you feel like you’re expected to, then stop. Men usually try to get out of dressing up as much as possible. They don’t spend more than five minutes finding something to wear to the greasy diner for breakfast, and neither should you.
