These Men Are Stealing Their Girlfriends’ Headwraps As Payback For Women Taking Their Hoodies

It's no secret that women have a habit of taking their man's clothes. They're looser, more comfortable, and contain the scent of your beloved. Win-win-win. But apparently, men don't appreciate the thievery. And in retaliation, one man in particular, 22-year-old Marquis McNeil, stole something of hers in return. Last year, he started with her hoodies, jackets and sweatshirts. But this year, he upped the anti by stealing his girlfriend's wrap. He told BuzzFeed, "I didn't have my du-rag at the time and it's the next best thing if not better." And it wasn't long before other men follow suit. By now, you have might have noticed something, these men have their headwrapping skills down, so much so that women were asking for a tutorial. In his interview with Buzzfeed, McNeil had an answer for that too. “As far as the tutorial goes I don’t think I will do one. There are already so many on YouTube and it’s only easy for us guys to make the different style wraps because we don’t have a lot of hair to get in the way,”   Straight comedy. In our interview, when speaking with Calloway about what she was most excited about as she approached the 6-0, the star said she was just happy to have another year of life.

“I’m just excited that I’m alive,” she said. “Whitney Houston will never see 60. We know that for a fact. Prince will never turn 60. We know that for a fact. So the fact that God has blessed me with another year, to have a great family, my girls are grown and doing well — I’m just excited about the next decade. Work is great. I mean, my life is good right now. I think a lot of it has to do with not only do I work hard, but I have a great energy and a good, positive outlook. So I’m most excited about continuing with my life and just embracing who I’m going to be in the next 10 years. I’m going to change a little bit, and I’ve already changed a little bit. You see things differently. Your body changes. But I’m excited to continue embracing who I am and to try to offer more of who I am to the world.”

Dave Chappelle Compares Chappelle’s Show To An Ex: “That B—h Is Crazy. I’m Not Goin’ Back”

At what other people felt was the height of his career, Dave Chappelle stepped away from a $50 million dollar deal to keep his hit, Chappelle’s Show, running on Comedy Central. Many assumed that Chappelle had a nervous breakdown after he departed the series indefinitely during production to travel to South Africa and gain some clarity. But as he told Gayle King in his new CBS This Morning interview, his mind was quite clear, instead, it was his emotional state that was clouded.

Chappelle's Show, Dave Chappelle

“I was talkin’ to a guy, he basically said to me that comedy is a reconciliation of paradox,” Chappelle said. “And I think that that was a irreconcilable moment for me. That I was in this very successful place, but the emotional content of it didn’t feel anything like what I imagined success should feel like. It just didn’t feel right.”

When asked by King if he missed the critically-acclaimed series, Chappelle said yes, but compared it to a toxic ex-girlfriend.

Chappelle’s Show’s’ like breakin’ up with a girl and you still like her,” he said. “But in your mind you’re like, ‘That b—h is crazy. I’m not goin’ back.'”

Chapelle also noted that there are certain things about working with network television, specifically Comedy Central, that he doesn’t miss. So the fact that stars, like Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele, were offered opportunities on the network and given certain liberties, or “conventions” that he was was denied, is a reminder of that part of the game he doesn’t miss.

“I fought the network very hard so that those conventions could come to fruition,” he said. “So, like the first episode I do, that black white supremacist sketch. And it’s like, ‘Well, that’s 10 minutes long. It should be five minutes long.’ Why should it be five minutes long? Like, these types of conventions. I fought very hard. So when I watch Key & Peele and I see they’re doing a format that I created, and at the end of the show, it says, ‘Created by Key & Peele,’ that hurts my feelings.”

But ever since leaving the show, he’s been working, and consistently. He reminded everyone that he’s a force on the standup scene, nabbing himself a $60 million dollar deal with Netflix that surpassed the deal Comedy Central was trying to offer more than a decade ago.

“I found an altitude I was comfortable with. I found a way that – to do what I liked to do and avoid some of the parts of it that I was uncomfortable with,” he said. Those “parts” include working himself silly and not being able to have a close relationship with his wife and kids.

“Well, I mean, if you look at me, right, physically – now, I’m, like, 40 pounds heavier than I was when I did Chappelle’s Show,” Chappelle said. “And people are like, ‘How did you gain all that weight?’ By resting and eatin’ and payin’ attention to myself. I have actual relationships with my kids. I’ve been all over the country, touring all my life. But I never saw anything. Now I’ve seen everything. I could talk to people or I could – I had time to stop if someone said they liked me. It wasn’t like I brushed past ’em like, ‘I don’t want to hear it.’ I had time to stop like, ‘You do?’ You know what I mean? It’s like – it was just, like, the way that I engaged the world was different.”

You can hear more about Chappelle’s new way of looking at the world in his Netflix specials, which premiere Tuesday, March 21. In the meantime, check out his chat with King below:

Thandie Newton: Brit Actors Flock To U.S. Because It’s “Slim Pickings For People Of Colour” In The U.K.

Despite much of the progress made over the last few years when it comes to Black actresses having the opportunity to be leading ladies in major films and TV series, certain Black actresses you speak to will tell you that it’s still a struggle out here. And while Thandie Newton may be the star of the HBO hit Westworld, and even picked up a best supporting actress Golden Globe nomination earlier this year for her work, she says the success she’s had here doesn’t really translate to a bevy of roles across the pond.

Thandie Newton London

In a conversation with the Sunday Times Magazine, London-born Newton provided an explanation as to why so many British actors and actresses flock to the U.S. for work — they’re shut out at home due to the type of work being offered.

“I love being [in the U.K.], but I can’t work, because I can’t do Downton Abbey, can’t be in Victoria, can’t be in Call the Midwife,” she said of the popular British dramas. “Well, I could, but I don’t want to play someone who’s being racially abused.”

She continued, “I’m not interested in that, don’t want to do it. There just seems to be a desire for stuff about the royal family, stuff from the past, which is understandable, but it just makes it slim pickings for people of colour.”

Still, Newton is one of the most visible Black British actresses. She’s actually about to star in the fourth season of the BBC cop drama called Line of Duty (premiering March 26), and is working on the highly anticipated Star Wars Han Solo movie. She said it hasn’t been easy, but despite the bumps in the road, particularly ones surrounding her race and gender, she’s had success.

“I’m talented at what I do, but I’ve had to struggle against racism and sexism,” Newton said. “But I’m glad of it, in a way, that I survived and overcame.”

How To Quickly Spot Men Just Looking For Sex Online

[caption id="attachment_822206" align="aligncenter" width="1068"] Young African Woman Video Chatting With A Man On Laptop[/caption] How does one weed out men who just want use women to get their d-cks wet on Saturday nights? I mean, you can ask them casually, "So what are you looking for on this dating app?" And, of course, you'd get a totally honest answer, and that'd be the end of it. Yes - that was sarcasm. You're more than likely to get a roundabout answer of, “I just want to see where things go," rather than the truth, which is "Yeah, honestly, I just want you to slob on my knob." Insert eggplant emoji.  Insert slobbering lick emoji. If a man isn't up front about his search for sleazy Saturday sexcapades, that’s alright because there are always tell-tale signs that will help you see through the BS quicker than you can swipe left.
  1. His Profile Picture Focuses On His Abs - And, Er, Other Parts of the Body
[caption id="attachment_727061" align="aligncenter" width="583"] Shutterstock.com/online dating[/caption]   A man looking to sling his schlong all night long doesn't give two hoots about uploading photos that show off his love for snorkeling, traveling, or working out in the gym. It's all about the headless abs photo -- and perhaps silhouetted pictures of other body parts that do have a head, if you know what I mean. Come on. They're not looking to attract women who are seeking depth and personality, so it would behoove you not to expect him to offer you anything more than his vein cane. Those shirtless profile pictures are simply saying (wink, wink) "Do you like what I'm working with?" Hey, if you do want to sit on his DNA rifle, no judgment, go 'head and swipe right with your bad self. But if you're hoping to get a respectable gentleman who wants more than a quick romp in the sack, please do not hold your breath.

2. His Profile Is Inadequately Filled Out

[caption id="attachment_615357" align="aligncenter" width="378"] Shutterstock[/caption]   Sometimes you'll come across those lazily written profiles that seem as if they were typed up by a five-year-old learning his first few sentences: "I like food. I am funny. Plz hit me up for more info." Ah, yes. There’s someone who seems oh-so-serious about attracting compatible women and surely not looking for some casual, sloppy sex. If he doesn't care to spare a few minutes to write a meaningful profile, I promise you that he can’t be bothered to find one eff in his pocket to get to know more than what’s between your legs either.

3. He Immediately Asks You Out on a Date

[caption id="attachment_710059" align="aligncenter" width="378"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]   "Let me take you out tonight," he says in his very first message to you. This man didn't even take the time to ask you for your name, let alone figure out your other unique layers and personality traits. You could be a sword-slinging slaughterer or a mad maneater for all he knows, but all he's thinking is, "let's just get this 'date' out of the way so we can get it on!" Or worse, he's rushing to schedule a date before you find out that he's a wanted, psycho serial killer. Either way, beware of men who don't bother to "vet the vag," so to speak.

4.  His Pictures are a Peacocky Display of  Being "Surrounded" by Women

[caption id="attachment_703566" align="aligncenter" width="468"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]   Spotted a guy who has tons of photos with random girls? He's comically trying to convince others - and perhaps himself, too - that he's some sort of “lady killer.” In reality, he's just an insecure guy who takes pictures with strangers at the club to seem "Casanova-esque" and "desirable." Though he’s just putting up a front that he’s a “ladies’ man,” you've got a problem on your hands if he's trying that hard to convince the world that he’s something he’s not. If you're not looking to be another notch on his belt on his quest to be the "big man on campus" he never was, swipe as far left as your thumbs will allow.

5. Peep the Lame Questions He Asks You

[caption id="attachment_713311" align="aligncenter" width="481"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]   If his questions never seem to go deeper than "wyd," this man doesn’t give a flying monkey's arm if you have mismatched future plans of living in a nudist community for the rest of your life. He just wants to know what you're doing now - never your future - so that he can say, "You're watching TV all by yourself? Let me join you." I promise you he's not coming over to hold your hands and watch RHOA. No matter how well a man may slither and slide around OkCupid or Tinder with a smooth tongue, knowing these red flags will make you too damn perceptive to let 'em pull a fast one on you. “I Just Never Wanted That Feeling Again”: Loni Love Reveals Miscarriage Experience

When we spoke with Loni Love in 2015, the comedian stated that she wouldn’t be where she is in her career if she had chosen to marry and have children. In her chat with writer Raqiyah Mays, Love said forgoing those things is a decision she is content with.

“I get that maternal instinct. I’ve raised children. I haven’t put myself in that position where I have to make a decision to have a baby or not because I want to entertain people. What I get is the joy to make people laugh and give them that escape,” Love says honestly. “So that’s the choice I made.”

But in a new episode of The Real, Love opened up the time she was pregnant. According to her, it wasn’t something she was necessarily ecstatic about initially. Still, she decided to go through with having her child, only to face tragedy.

Loni Love miscarriage The Real/Robert Voets/Warner Bros. Television

“I finally went to the doctor and I was pregnant. And I’m going to tell you something, your body goes through so much,” she said. “And then at that time I started processing ’cause then I had to start saving for the baby. I had to start doing all this. I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, what am I going to do?’ Right? And then it was like the dude that I was with, he was excited, but I was still like really really nervous. But then, eventually, you know that nature takes over, you’re like, ‘You know what, there’s nothing I can do. I’m just gonna have to have this baby and I’m just going to deal with it.’ And sure enough, as soon as I was like okay with it, about eight weeks, I miscarried. Yup. So I was pregnant. So, you know, I just never wanted that feeling again.”

And while it was an extremely emotional reveal for the star, she shared her story in the hopes of helping other women who’ve been through it.

Check out her reveal below, and tune into the episode as a whole when it airs today — check your local listings.

Have You Ever Been Sexually Harassed By A Female Co-Worker?

$

In major corporate news today, Miki Agrawal, co-founder of Thinx period panties, has been accused of sexual harassment by the company’s former head of public relations, 26-year-old Chelsea Leibow. As NY Mag explained of the complaint filed late last week, Agrawal reportedly had a history of talking about “things you’re not supposed to talk about,” such as “the size and shape of her employees’ breasts, an employee’s nipple piercings, her own sexual exploits, her desire to experiment with polyamory, her interest in entering a sexual relationship with one of her employees, and the exact means by which she was brought to female ejaculation.” And it doesn’t stop there. “Per the detailed complaint, filed with the City of New York Commission on Human Rights, Agrawal also touched an employee’s breasts and asked her to expose them, routinely changed clothes in front of employees, and conducted meetings via videoconference while in bed, apparently unclothed. (She also is said in the filing to have shared nude photos of herself and others — ‘including but not limited to her fiancé’ — with staff.) At least once, she supposedly FaceTimed into a meeting from the toilet.”

If that wasn’t enough — and that’s a lot — Agrawal was also allegedly ageist and sexist, referring to women employees in their 20s as “children” and those in their 30s as “nannies.” And, to top it iff, the complaint notes “only two employees who had evidently successfully negotiated higher salaries were men.”

As you can imagine, these allegations have caused quite the stir as sexual harassment in the workplace is looked at, by and large, as an issue in which women are typically the victims and men the perpetrators. This case, however, flips the script entirely, exposing an issue that likely occurs more often than most care to admit. Though, Agrawal, it seems took things further you might even guess most men would:

“Once, when Leibow texted her boss a photo from vacation in Mexico wearing a shirt that Agrawal had bought for her employee (open, over a swimsuit), the then-CEO replied ‘Couldn’t focus bc boobs [sic]. Oh and the shirt looks good too!'” NY Mag reported. “When Leibow got her nipples pierced, she says she told various co-workers and showed a few privately; one told Agrawal, and Agrawal asked Leibow to show her the piercings in her office. (Agrawal says Leibow showed ‘everybody.’) ‘I said yes, because Thinx was a culture of we’re all women here, this is to be expected,’ Leibow told me. A male friend of Agrawal’s was seated in the glass-paned office but Agrawal said he was ‘cool’ and indicated that Leibow should go ahead and show the piercings. ‘She made a lot of comments about how beautiful my breasts are, and the size and shape of my areolas,’ Leibow said. ‘It didn’t feel good at all. I was very close to a lot of other people at work who maybe I would have felt comfortable showing the piercings to, but she was my employer, and I felt like I had to do a lot of things because it was my paycheck at the end of the day.’”

Just four days ago, Agrawal wrote a piece on Medium in response to articles on Jezebel and Racked about leaving her position at Thinx and the exploitative environment she created.

“Like any Co-Founder/CEO, all I did was the best I could under these crazy circumstances. Yes, I have made a TON of mistakes along the way but I can proudly say that our company has grown from an idea in my head to an innovation that is worn by millions of satisfied women globally in a few short years. And we have been at the forefront of the period feminism movement which truly is eliminating shame in the period space.

“One problem area throughout our startup’s story and no different to many in our position: human resources. I didn’t take time to think through it. We grew so quickly and I didn’t hire an HR person (it was hard to rationalize hiring an HR person at the time with only 15 employees and then all of a sudden we were 30 people). I didn’t call references because I needed butts in seats fast. I didn’t put HR practices in place because I was on the road speaking, doing press, brand partnerships, editing all of the creative and shouting from the rooftops about THINX so we can keep going.”

She also responded to the latest allegations in an update, writing:

“The company commissioned a third party employment law firm to conduct extensive diligence on each allegation and they all came back false and without any merit.

“Thank you for the thousands of wonderful messages of support during this strange time, each one has meant a lot.

“To be crystal clear, I know I’m passionate and oft unruly in my ways (as a taboo breaker must be), but I have never, ever crossed the line in the inflammatory ways described. This is all I am going to say on this matter.”

In a bit of irony, NY Mag closed their piece, noting:

“Agrawal — who recently raised $500,000 of funding for Tushy, her bidet venture — is slated to speak on March 23 at the New Orleans Entrepreneur Week’s Women’s Summit, directly following a discussion on ‘Navigating Sexuality at Work: Finding the Line Between Harmless and Harassment.'”

Interesting indeed. What do you make of this situation? Have you ever been sexually harassed by a female co-worker?

Nancy Abu-Bonsrah Becomes First Black Woman To Join Johns Hopkins’ Neurosurgical Residency

Last Friday, March 17 was “Match Day,” the day when medical students learn where they will complete their residencies. While most students were merely hoping to be paired with a good program in a decent location, Nancy Abu-Bonsrah was making history.

It has been 30 years since the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine’s neurosurgical department started accepting residents. And in that time, Nancy is the first Black woman to be accepted into the program.

The program, ranked second in the country, accepts just two-five residents each year. Not only did Abu-bonsrah secure one of those spots, so did her husband Kwabena Yamoah.

Abu-bonsrah, who also attended Johns Hopkins medial school, was born and raised in Ghana until she was 15-years-old. She has lived in the United States for the past 11 years and is already thinking about how she will put her education and expertise to work.

“I am very much interested in providing medical care in underserved settings, specifically surgical care,” Abu-Bonsrah said in a statement. “I hope to be able to go back to Ghana over the course of my career to help in building sustainable surgical infrastructure.”

Abu-bonsrah said, “”I want to be remembered for serving my community, whether it is through providing quality surgical care or helping mentor the next generation of surgeons. Unique thing: Everything is special about the match. It will be a dream come true,” she said.

Things To Think About When Your Work-Life Balance Is Out Of Wack

[caption id="attachment_822207" align="aligncenter" width="1068"] Bigstockphoto.com/A pretty african american business woman at her company[/caption] Unless you live in a remote area, completely surrounded by nature (and maybe some meditating monks), then you’re bound to get sucked into the idea that life is all about working, making money, earning status, and climbing professional ranks. When everybody else around you believes that, and your entire life is geared towards that idea, it becomes a vortex you get sucked into. In some ways, humans never learn; the happiest people on the planet have a good work/life balance, and yet, most people think they can beat the system, throw that balance off, and somehow be happier. It never works, so stop trying to cheat the system. Here are healthy thoughts to think, or write down somewhere, for times you’re in need of better work-life balance. [caption id="attachment_716083" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

You won’t be here forever

You’re dedicating your limited days to an industry or company that could potentially be around for centuries, but you won’t. And that industry or company, sorry to say it, won’t miss you when you’re gone. But you’ll miss the time you didn’t spend doing things you love.   [caption id="attachment_701581" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

There are successful people who are happy

Did you know that Bill Murray doesn’t even have an agent? He doesn’t like the fuss of it all and the stress of feeling like he has to book something. He has a hotline, and he listens to pitches himself. He calls people back if he’s interested, and doesn’t if he isn’t. He isn’t stressed by the idea of going a long time without work; he only wants to do the work that makes him happy. [caption id="attachment_704428" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Would you trade your loved ones for anything?

If someone told you today you could have your dream job, but it would mean you could never see your loved ones again, would you take it? Of course not. And that, my friend, shows you where your true source of happiness lies. So pay more attention to it.   [caption id="attachment_698662" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shuterstock[/caption]

This industry won’t be around forever

Apps, entertainment, hybrid cars—they’re all respectable and impressive things. But they, like you, won’t be here forever. So they shouldn’t get all of your attention. If you’re religious or even spiritual, then you know your emotional bond with the people you love will exist somewhere forever if you cultivate it. [caption id="attachment_707669" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

If you lose your health, then it’s all for nothing

If you are working hard to enjoy some money or success some day, but your work ends up affecting your health (through excess stress, lack of sleep, etc.) then it was all for nothing. You won’t be able to enjoy what you were working for if you destroy your body along the way. [caption id="attachment_697365" align="alignleft" width="468"] Source: Corbis[/caption]

Personal bonds are hard to repair

If you get off track a little with work, you can always bounce back; if you get off track with your family, romantic partner and friends, you’ll have a very difficult time repairing those bonds.       [caption id="attachment_616018" align="alignleft" width="420"]business woman tablet suit and tie Shutterstock[/caption]

Why did you get into this in the first place?

Think about what you do. Let’s say, for example, you work in IT, and you like helping people stay connected through technology. You can also do that by volunteering for a non-profit that raises funds to give cell phones to elderly people living on welfare who don’t get to talk to their family enough. [caption id="attachment_715001" align="alignleft" width="425"] Shutterstock[/caption]

Tomorrow is not guaranteed

This is always important to remember. You may tell yourself, “I’ll travel tomorrow” or “I’ll spend more time with my family tomorrow once I’ve achieved my goals.” Who said tomorrow would be there? Nobody promised that.     [caption id="attachment_611718" align="alignleft" width="500"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Relaxing helps you work better

Okay here is a thought that the little workaholic in you will like; relaxing a little can give you physical and mental energy to do a better job at your work. Do you want to work 100% of the time, but only at 75% of your mental capacity? Or could you consider working 80% of the time, at 100% mental capacity? [caption id="attachment_710984" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

You won’t notice money after a certain point

Money is good for putting a roof over your head, putting food on the table, putting gas in your car, and giving you the peace of mind that you don’t need to worry about having those needs met. A little money for a little indulgence like vacations and nights out is nice, too. Beyond that, you won’t really notice having tons of money. [caption id="attachment_621000" align="alignleft" width="500"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

You can’t work forever

You’ll have to retire one day. You know what else? You could lose your job (gasp!). Don’t you want your friends and family to be there for you if and when that day comes? Don’t you want to have cultivated some hobbies and relationships to enjoy when you retire? [caption id="attachment_706541" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shuttestock[/caption]

Inspiration comes when you least expect it

If you’ve been struggling with how to solve a work-related problem, the answer often isn’t at your computer or even in the office. Going on a hike, reading a book, or doing something that uses under-utilized parts of your brain could help you access the mental tools you need to solve that work problem. [caption id="attachment_717807" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

You impress the wrong people

Your colleagues and professional peers will be impressed by your career accomplishments, sure, but they aren’t the ones you go home to at night or spend vacations with. Their love and approval are short-lived, whereas the love and approval of your loved ones are with you where it counts.   [caption id="attachment_620571" align="alignleft" width="420"]dance girl music toddler Shutterstock[/caption]

Some things can’t wait

Your friend’s bachelorette party, your child’s recital, your child’s desire for some cuddle time, your partner’s desire for some between-the-sheets time… these things cannot be rescheduled. Conference calls, however, can be rescheduled.     [caption id="attachment_703571" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Are you being grateful?

There is nothing less excusable than failing to be grateful. If you just think, “I need more and I want more to be happy” then you are certainly not stopping to be grateful for what you have, which I bet is a lot.

Sink. victim 4 #artofjamarlogan #getout

A post shared by jamar logan (@artofjamarlogan) on

Steve Harvey has made a name for himself by using his mouth. He’s a talker. Whether he’s telling jokes, starring in a sitcom, offering relationship advice or hosting a game show, Steve Harvey is collecting these checks because of he’s a good talker. But as of late, Harvey’s mouth has been the very thing that’s gotten him into trouble. First it it was the appearance of said mouth, standing next to Donald Trump before he was sworn in as the President of the United States.

Then it was the mouth that got him in trouble when he used it to make jokes against Asian men.

And then again, most recently when he stepped forward to advise Snoop Dogg and everyone else to respect the office of the Presidency.

“the problem with this is that there’s is an office in this country called the ‘president’, and you have to respect the office. You really do. Whether you want to or not. You have to respect the office. They got laws… I would hate for anything to come down.”

That last one got him a “sunken place” illustration, you see above.
Harvey isn’t exactly known for speaking with tact or being incredibly sensitive, particularly when he offers advice.

Then today, I found a video of him offering some advice to a woman in his talk show studio audience.

For those who can’t listen to the video right here’s the transcript.

Woman: My husband and I, we’ve been married for over 20 years. There’s no doubt he’s in love with me. The problem is every time I get home from work, he’s overly affectionate. He wants to kiss me, hug me, he sits down next to me all the time. I need to calm him down. I don’t want him to stop but I need him to calm down for just 30 minutes. I was hoping you could help him calm down.

Steve: He loves you. Do you know that you have a problem that most women wish they had?

Woman: Just 30 minutes.

Steve: Have you ever asked him before?

Woman: Yes.

Steve: What did he say?

Woman: I don’t know what his problem is.

Steve: He think you fine. That’s the damn problem, he married a woman he’s in love with. he didn’t just start this. That’s how he got you.

Woman: Well can he just calm down a bit?

Steve: I’m not going to help you. No.

Steve to the Husband: Keep doing what you’re doing.

Steve: What you don’t want to mess around and do is have to have him give all that affection to somebody else.

I know that Steve Harvey, at the end of the day, is a comedian. A lot of his advice is rooted in comedy and not any relationship insight or psychological study. So I get that a lot of this is supposed to be tongue and cheek.

Still, can we all agree that this advice completely absolves the man for any type of control over his actions or consideration for his wife’s feelings? The woman didn’t say she didn’t want her husband to touch her for days or even hours on end. She said she needs 30 minutes to decompress. While I certainly don’t believe her husband is being malicious in his affection, he should take seriously her request that he give her a few minutes when she comes home from work. At the end of the day, it’s an issue of consent. Even if someone is your husband, that still doesn’t give him unlimited access to your body. We can’t teach our children about “no-means-no” and encourage them to exercise autonomy over their bodies…until they get married. That’s not how this thing works.

And after this response, I wonder if Steve Harvey really got that.

As you might have imagined from the studio audience’s response, once this clip was posted online, people had a lot to say about this “cold woman.” So much so, that her husband had to write a response in defense of her.

We already know Steve is known for misogynistic, throwback to the 50’s type of advice. And honestly some women have been complaining about this type of advice for years now. But since everything else is going haywire, perhaps now Harvey will be able to see that now is the time to step away, reflect, REBRAND, and come back with something that is more reflective of this time period and our current understanding of not only women but just general human decency.

Sheryl Recounts Her Rape And Reminds Women Never To Lose Their Power

Sheryl Underwood listened to Kim Kardashian retell the story of her robbery in Paris and it reminded her of a time when she was in a similar situation and she thought she was also going to lose her life.

For Underwood, the moment occurred as she was being raped.

Underwood shared the emotional and potentially life-threatening experience on “The Talk.”

“I looked at the footage with Kim and in her retelling the story, she looks traumatized. But for her to go through that process and try to think her way through it, I remember having a ‘this is it‘ moment when I was raped. I just kept thinking, This ain’t it. I am not going to die today. I refuse to die today. It’s not going down like this. So the only thing I thought was: What do I do to survive? What do I do to survive? And I start talking to the guy and I said, ‘Don’t do this this way. Whatever you’re going to do, finish what you’re doing — don’t kill me. And don’t take my ID. They’ll find you.”

Lastly, Sheryl wanted to leave women with a lesson from her story.

“I really want women to understand: Don’t ever let anybody take your power away from you.”

See what she had to say in the video below.

Adrienne Talks About Moment She Knew Her Relationship With Lenny Wasn’t Right

The women of “The Real” are living up to the name of their show with this week’s topics of discussion. Earlier this week, Loni opened up about her miscarriage and now, Adrienne is speaking about the reason she called off her engagement to Lenny Santiago.

Tamera: “When did you know, because I think a woman always knows this, when did you know that it wasn’t right? But then you kept on in the relationship?”

Adrienne: “I think I knew when I moved across the country and we didn’t need each other in that way. And I think at some point it almost… can become almost a saving grace, like ‘Let’s try… Maybe if we do this…’
Does that make sense?”

If I’m being honest, it’s a little unclear. But if you watch the video, you can tell that Adrienne was doing her best to be as tactful and un-offending as possible. And while the second half got a little muddled for me, the first part was pretty clear. It seems that they thought their problem was distance. And then when they were in the same place together, they still found that the relationship wasn’t exactly right.

Now, this is just a clip, but I would love to hear the reasons why she said yes to the engagement if she wasn’t confident in the relationship. Perhaps, like the move, she felt the next level of commitment, would fix their problems.

Earrings were as necessary to me leaving the house as washing my face and brushing my teeth when I was growing up, which may be why this particular accessory is still my favorite piece of jewelry to wear. These days, designers are getting more creative than ever when it comes to the materials they use for these adornments, not to mention the styles they create. And we are more than thrilled about the rise of African-inspired jewelry coming to the forefront at the hands of Black female jewelry makers. Honestly, there are so many brands and options nowadays, it's hard to choose when buying on a budget. But we definitely have our eye on these five pairs in particular. Beads By Aree Eye Studs -$35

20 Careers That Afford You The Most And Least Sleep

[caption id="attachment_821430" align="aligncenter" width="1600"] black African American ethnicity tired and frustrated woman working as secretary in stress at work office desk with computer laptop asking for help in business frustration concept[/caption] Everybody has different priorities when looking for a job. Some people want a very high pay grade or at least the potential to earn more money over time; some individuals want a fun and social work environment. Fame and visibility are certainly a driving force behind many professionals, while isolation and the option not to see anyone for days on end is an attractive career trait for others. And then there are people who just want to sleep! Which makes sense, since sleep deprivation can alter the chemistry of your brain and make it difficult to feel happy. What good is a fun, social working environment if you’re grumpy and don’t want to talk to people, right? If for you, the best perk of a job is some good slumber time, then you should know about the jobs that get the most and the least sleep. black female nurse

Exhausted: Private nurses

Private nurses, like those who aid the disabled and elderly, get very little sleep because their patients don’t tend to sleep much, either. Home nurses need to be up any time their patient gets up to simply use the restroom. [caption id="attachment_616985" align="alignleft" width="406"] Shutterstock[/caption]

Well-rested: Bartenders

If you’re a night owl who often cannot fall asleep until the wee hours of the morning, and are stressed by the concept of going to bed by 10 pm and waking up at 7 am, then you may like the bartender’s life. Bartenders rarely set alarm clocks, since their clock-in time is in the late afternoon if not evening. [caption id="attachment_626511" align="alignleft" width="500"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Exhausted: Cooks and restaurant owners/managers

Even if a restaurant owner or head chef has staff he trusts to take over for him, he can never truly leave his restaurant alone for more than five or six hours since there is always an emergency only he can address. [caption id="attachment_717981" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Well-rested: Religious workers

Perhaps the knowledge that they’re doing good in this work, whether that’s through organizing fundraisers or bringing food to the poor, helps religious workers sleep soundly at night. [caption id="attachment_723578" align="alignleft" width="381"] Shutterstock[/caption]

Exhausted: Secretaries

Secretaries usually need to get to work before everyone else in the office and leave work after everyone else in the office. It’s their job to organize important details for anywhere from a few to dozens of individuals, and if they lose one post-it note or miss one call, they could cost the company money. [caption id="attachment_822143" align="alignleft" width="414"] Bigstockphoto.com/Female architect and construction worker looking at laptop together[/caption]

Well-rested: Engineers

The enormous amounts of money some engineers can make probably helps them sleep well at night. Since most engineering jobs pay high per-hour, that also means that engineers can work fewer hours to make a great living. [caption id="attachment_697285" align="alignleft" width="500"] Credit: Shutterstock[/caption]

Exhausted: Financial analysts

The fate of a company can rest in the hands of a financial analyst, a fact that does not escape the attention of these over-worked professionals. Since financial analysts are often salaried or on retention, they don’t get to clock out a certain time; they’re paid when the job is done. [caption id="attachment_702157" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Well-rested: Writers

Writers can often work from home, meaning they don’t need to wake up early for a long commute. Furthermore, since writers are typically paid per-project (whether that’s a book or an article), they don’t feel the stress of clocking in nine hours a day. [caption id="attachment_698332" align="alignleft" width="468"] Shutterstock[/caption]

Exhausted: TV political analysts

Political analysts who debate on the evening news have a rather tumultuous job; when they aren’t being yelled at by their debate partner, they’re up late studying materials to prepare for the next day’s discussion. [caption id="attachment_822145" align="alignleft" width="406"] Bigstockphoto.com/Landscaping Professional. Pro Gardener with Large Scissors and Other Gardening Equipment.[/caption]

Well-rested: Landscapers

Landscapers rarely have a boss looking over their shoulder the way an office worker does, which can relieve some of the stress that keeps one up at night. Furthermore, this profession gets to spend time outdoors, which has calming effects on the brain. [caption id="attachment_712970" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Exhausted: Social workers

Social workers usually have one personality trait that can keep a person up at night; they are extremely empathetic. It’s difficult to sleep after witnessing the hardship of others throughout the day. [caption id="attachment_714946" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Well-rested: Hairdressers

Hairdressers tend to set their own hours and don’t have to take a 7 am appointment if they don’t want to. So long as they pay their salon their fair cut, their schedule can really be up to them. [caption id="attachment_607736" align="alignleft" width="420"] Corbis[/caption]

Exhausted: Paramedics

Paramedics typically have irregular schedules, sometimes working 36 hours straight before having one day off, and an odd wake-up time for their next day on. It’s difficult to sleep well when your sleep schedule is constantly changing. Plus, paramedics see things in their work that can certainly keep someone up at night. black female teacher pf

Well-rested: Teachers

Maybe the knowledge that they’re doing something good in this world helps teachers rest easy at night. Maybe the fact that their day can end roughly around 3 or 4 pm just like their student’s helps too. [caption id="attachment_617246" align="alignleft" width="500"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Exhausted: Police officers

Police officers, like teachers, know they’re serving their community. But police officers, like paramedics, have odd, long and fluctuating work hours, and put their lives at risk each day, after which it can be hard to relax. [caption id="attachment_721836" align="alignleft" width="420"] Shutterstock[/caption]

Well-rested: Sales representatives

The good thing about being in sales is that your potential clients and customers typically want to keep normal sleep hours, and don’t want you to bother them before 9 am or after 5 pm. [caption id="attachment_610039" align="alignleft" width="420"] Corbis[/caption]

Exhausted: Lawyers

Lawyers, like financial analysts, are typically on retainer and are not done working until their case is closed. They also can affect major outcomes in a person’s life, like whether or not they get custody of their children or go to prison. [caption id="attachment_822146" align="alignleft" width="402"] Bigstockphoto.com/A construction worker or foreman at a construction site with blue prints and a hard hat[/caption]

Well-rested: Contract workers

This may take some by surprise, but those who work in construction and physical labor sleep well. Physical activity is the cure for many insomniacs. [caption id="attachment_616901" align="alignleft" width="378"] Corbis Images[/caption]

Exhausted: Managers of retirement communities

People who oversee retirement communities are almost never off of the clock. Their particular client base can have medical emergencies at any given moment, and their staff (aka the nurses) are on the clock 24 hours a day meaning they, too, must be. [caption id="attachment_696716" align="alignleft" width="378"] Shutterstock[/caption]

Well-rested: College professors

College professors are, for the most part, their own bosses. The head of the school may give some critique to the curricula they have prepared, but all in all, they are the experts in their field and take comfort in that.

Actress Naturai Naughton is with child y'all! The former 3LW member and current star of the hit series "Power" is expected to deliver her first child this July. The 32-year-old told People, "It's been a little surreal, but I feel really good, healthy and strong." Though the pregnancy came as a surprise to Naughton and her longtime boyfriend, Ben, she describes it as such a blessing. "I feel like being pregnant and entering this new stage had made me stronger and more excited about life in general. Everything seems so much more purposeful.” Naughton discovered she was pregnant in the middle of shooting STARZ's "Power," in Brooklyn. Since then, Naughton said the cast and crew have been very protective of her on set. “They’ve been really good at keeping it on the low, but they’re also super excited. Omari [Hardwick], who plays my husband, we have kids on the show and he’s like, ‘Now you get to be experiencing motherhood in real life!’ Everyone’s been really supportive.” Before she decided to make the announcement, Naughton started implementing a few tricks to conceal her growing baby bump on the show. “I had maternity jeans they ordered for me, and I do a lot of tops that are peplum-style. I was amazed at how un-pregnant I could look.” Naughton said that since she's discovered her pregnancy, she's started to eat healthier but she still indulges in her cravings. “I love kale, I love strawberries and pineapples, but I’m not proud of this … I’ve been eating Cup Noodles. I really want salty, spicy things, and Cup Noodles has been really awesome. I haven’t had one since college!” These days, Naughton is picking out colors for the baby's nursery with her boyfriend and she said she'll spend the summer nesting. “It’ll just be a great summer to enjoy motherhood and this journey to motherhood. It’s a really amazing responsibility, but it’s such a blessing and that to me is worth more than anything I can imagine.” Check out the pictures of Naturi both exposing and hiding her baby bump on the following pages.

Slimming black with a cardigan/scarf to hide the protruding bump.
Now, I would have never suspected a thing here. But considering the fact that the bump starts closer to your uterus before protrudes out, that tutu helped her out quite a bit.
This one is pretty impressive. Perhaps there's a spanx under there and the overlapping fabric helps to conceal. But the fact that she had a belt on top of it, is mind boogling.

Of course when we did't know she was expecting, we wouldn't have looked twice at this peplum number, but now that we do, it's clear that something's going on under there.
Big t-shirts help.

Now that we know, I think I spy a little protrusion. Black works wonders.

Being Mary Jane Midseason Finale: MJ Sacrifices Everything, Including Lee And Kara, For The Anchor Chair

So here we are, folks. It's time to talk about the midseason finale (that's right, the season didn't come to a complete end this time around). Still, as with all finales, things have to reach a climax, and they certainly do -- as does Mary Jane with Justin's help (literally). Check out all the tea from the Being Mary Jane midseason finale and tune back in to the second half of the series when it returns July 18. https://www.instagram.com/p/BR6hgO_B3d-/?taken-by=betmaryjane&hl=en

Mary Jane Preps For Her 40th Birthday While Kara Gets Back to Being Alone

You know things are about to go left when someone is sitting with their man but thinking about another man. That's exactly what is going on when the mid-season finale starts. While brainstorming plans for Mary Jane's 40th birthday with Kara, Lee makes a poor cake recommendation and remarks that "I'm obviously out of my league" with such a suggestion (it was chocolate cake with white icing by the way). At that very moment, Justin walks into the room via a daydream and says to MJ, "He said it, not me." She freezes for a moment before remembering where she's at, and who she's with. MJ decides her 40th birthday plans will include a trip to Martha's Vineyard with Lee and Kara, and Kara has nothing but time to make it happen since her love affair with Orlando ended unexpectedly in episode nine. Mary Jane encourages Kara to try and rekindle things with Orlando, but our favorite producer says "hot blooded Latino men don't forgive." MJ says for her birthday, she wants Kara to take a risk when it comes to love for once. But Kara still doesn't want to fall in love with a young athlete. At least, that's what she tells MJ and Lee. When they leave her place after drinks and party planning, she's looking mighty lonely... https://www.instagram.com/p/BR6rQiuFZWE/?tagged=beingmaryjane&hl=en

Could Mary Jane Be in and Ronda Out?

Back at work, things are going well. Justin is getting Mary Jane opportunities (even if they sound a lot like Kara's ideas at times). After the morning pitch meeting, they talk about the kiss briefly from episode nine and say it shouldn't have happened and won't happen again. As for his new plan for the MJ takeover, Justin says Ronda has been getting sloppy and her story with Liz the so-called victim of Internet bullying wasn't fact-checked. The woman created the online brouhaha herself for sympathy and attention. So you know what that means: Ronda could be out. In the meantime, MJ's newest opportunity will provide her with the chance to sit briefly with co-anchor Aaron for a sports story, and the news director will be coming to check her out. Pressure on! bEING mARY JANE ep 10

Speaking of Out, Lee's on His Way Out With Mary Jane...

Back at her hotel room, Mary Jane shares the good news with Lee and he seems skeptical of her trust in Justin. Out of nowhere, Lee is also skeptical of his plans to have a baby with MJ. After being with Zoe, who dived into things with "reckless abandon," he wants to make sure MJ is actually ready for motherhood. She admits that she initially wasn't looking to have kids and didn't think there was time left to do it. But when she met Lee and he seemed more than ready for it and got her hopes all up, she became enthusiastic. So her answer? "I can't go back." If Lee is not ready to finish what he, in a way, started, and as she tells him, grow a backbone, MJ tells him they need to be done. When he tells her that she's run every "man with a backbone" that she wants away, Mary Jane throws Lee's prized teacup at him. He responds by saying they're finished. https://www.instagram.com/p/BR6CZ-zj7YM/?tagged=beingmaryjane&hl=en

The Pattersons Have a Special Gift For MJ's 40th

Back in Atlanta, they're trying to set up a gift for Mary Jane, bka, Pauletta. They're all recording short clips speaking on ways they're following her example in life. Her older brother Patrick talks about how MJ fighting for Niecy after the tasing incident pushed him to be more active in not only helping her but also helping others in the community. As for Niecy, she tells MJ on camera that she is finally getting on her own two feet. She's gone back to school, gotten a booth at a hair salon, and worked out a babysitting "share" with the mothers of Dante's other kids so they can help one another. As she puts it perfectly, she's not all the way together just yet, but she's "working on it." https://www.instagram.com/p/BR6LXWCA-Yi/?tagged=beingmaryjane&hl=en

Mary Jane Takes Her Personal Life to Work

Back at work, Mary Jane is falling apart after her split with Lee, crying just before she's set to have her segment with co-anchor Aaron. Justin asks Kara to come and help her out with whatever is going on as he stalls Garrett and the production crew. MJ says she's the same person she's always been, just in a different city, and she's frustrated by that because it's holding her back romantically. To make matters worse, her story has been railroaded (thanks to Ronda). The small story she was supposed to do that would connect her with sports fans is being dumped for a wack a-- story on emojis. And as she balls in her office, she doesn't even know it. Kara tells Justin, inquisitive about why MJ is upset, that she and Lee have broken up. He tells her that MJ's story has been flipped at the last minute and he's going to need her help. The two producers work together to get her at her best. MJ gets on air and tries to make the most of the segment, which is pretty much a trash game of "Can you figure out what this emoji is?" Kara and Justin collaborate and help her make the segment more entertaining. Mary Jane manages to shine in front of the news director despite her earlier tears and the weak story subject. https://www.instagram.com/p/BR4IzoOjapK/?tagged=beingmaryjane&hl=en

What About Kara?

After the segment, Mary Jane feels better and Justin says he's going to tell the network heads about Ronda's story slip-up. MJ automatically feels nervous about the whole thing and he assures her that he will keep her name out of it all. Sounds like a good idea, right? Well, to be honest, this is the moment where I started putting two and two together and worrying. If Ronda's story wasn't well vetted, wouldn't that be considered Kara's fault and not Ronda's since she was the producer doing all the research? What could this mean for our favorite producer? https://www.instagram.com/p/BR4IsOgD93S/?tagged=beingmaryjane&hl=en

I'll Cut to the Chase -- Mary Jane and Justin Have Sex

Justin talks to Garrett about the errors in Ronda's Internet bully story. Considering what can be done about such egregious errors, Garrett tells Justin and Mary Jane to lay low for the rest of the day. Justin goes to MJ's hotel room and they celebrate over drinks (that he makes), and he reveals that he's kind of been setting up Ronda for months. He claims he pushed an update on the factually incorrect Internet bullying story on Ronda when he realized that MJ "deserved to be in that anchor chair." They believe that based on the major news network track record, the news director will have no choice but to get rid of Ronda. Buzzed by Garrett, Justin and MJ head to the studio and find out that Aaron is issuing a retraction on Ronda's story, Ronda is being placed on suspension, and MJ will get to be in the anchor chair, effective immediately. Celebrating the news, MJ and Justin kiss in the studio. They initially stop, knowing they shouldn't go there, but then, nonetheless, go all the way there. I'm talking back licking, panty dropping, and wet kisses on the anchor desk. He worked hard to get her there and now he's getting her off there. Crazy, right? https://www.instagram.com/p/BR7JlbzjSPx/?tagged=beingmaryjane&hl=en

A Jealous Ronda Takes Kara Down With Her

The next morning, on her birthday, Mary Jane walks in and Ronda prepares to walk out. They run into one another in the hallway and you know Ronda does her best to slander MJ's accomplishment. She discredits her abilities saying she wishes MJ would have obtained her anchor opportunity "based on merit." She also tells MJ that our protagonist is in a young woman's game and running out of time to play it. When MJ strikes back by telling her that jealousy doesn't look good on the suspended anchor, Ronda breaks the news to MJ that Kara was also suspended for her role in the Internet story. Why? Because Ronda put the blame on her. Being Mary Jane midseason finale

Down on Her Luck, Kara Returns to Orlando

Mary Jane runs to her ride-or-die friend who is in an office sobbing, a major shift from the dynamics earlier in the episode. Kara tells MJ that it's clear that Justin has it out for them and that she should watch her back because he was in the room when Kara got the news of her suspension by Garrett. If he wanted to put MJ on, that's fine, but his behind-the-scene moves have also hurt her immensely. https://www.instagram.com/p/BR6yJc3hDSi/?tagged=beingmaryjane&hl=en Currently out of work, Kara's heart is torn up, and she's wearing it on her sleeve. The upside to this whole sad situation is that she realizes she has nothing left to lose. She goes to Orlando's apartment to talk to him, and thankfully, he's willing to listen. Mary Jane Is Back Where She Belongs

Mary Jane confronts Justin angrily, but he claims he didn't see Kara's suspension coming. Now MJ is skeptical of everything and everybody -- just in time for the original king of skepticism, Lee, to show up. She isn't able to talk to him as she has to prep for the air, and you know our girl is stressed. Some comfort after a shi--y morning comes in the form of that birthday video made by her family. In it, they tell her how she's inspired them to step up and step out there for one another. With her backbone back in place knowing she has business to do, MJ walks to the anchor chair, half-listens to Justin (who rubs her hair) while Lee watches from a guest room in support, and gets ready to do her thing. Despite all of the melee going on around her, MJ put on her best Colgate smile and ends the episode by saying, "Hello and welcome to 'Great Day USA.' I'm Mary Jane Paul." It may have taken some less than positive moves to make this moment happen, but she's finally obtained her seat at the table.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BR5jjuGgQaa/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en Jennifer Hudson is currently across the pond serving as a coach on "The Voice U.K.", but mentorship isn't the only thing the singer is bringing to the hit series. She also showed up with a whole lot of leg! When I saw photos of J-Hud's first few days on set looking mini-skirt fly I was reminded that showing leg is what she does, and boy does she do it well. After dropping 80 pounds and keeping it off for seven years since becoming a Weight Watchers spokesperson back in 2010, I imagine the 35-year-old mother believes she's earned the right to show a little leg and I definitely concur. Here's a look at some of the 5'9" beauty's sexiest leggy looks. https://www.instagram.com/p/BRSkp1Ogsib/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BRvUYaNAwr1/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BQXQgNjgzno/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BONhNyCAfjT/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BR3F5UUAfUD/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BP86_p_gtqf/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BO9KokyApXP/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BNm4L0uD2U0/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BRjVgU5A5dE/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BK7S01IAqMI/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/BLrnk0-g1rT/?taken-by=iamjhud&hl=en
