Meet Nickelodeon’s New Biracial, Princess-Knight Nella

We’ve written before about the power and importance of representation, particularly in the content created for children. I think that our generation, children growing up in the 90’s were the first to see more characters of color in their programming. But those characters were often secondary or sidekicks. They might have had an episode or two dedicated to them once a season but it was always made very clear that they were sidekicks. Though we have some way to go, children of this generation are blessed with more characters of color in the forefront. And now Nickelodeon has added another one to the list: "Nella The Princess Knight" The cartoon, which premiered on Nickelodeon this past Monday is, as the title suggests, both a princess and a knight. So she wears big, frilly dresses and swings a sword and protects herself with armor. Nina Hahn, Senior Vice President of International Production for Nickelodeon told Huffington Post, “There are a lot of princesses out there and we had to think about what would make a Nickelodeon princess unique. What became crystal clear to us in the development process is that Nella didn’t have to be a princess or a knight--she could be both.” Nella’s gender-rule-breaking background is not the only thing unique about her. So is her racial background. Nella is biracial with a White mother and a Black father. Hahn said the decision to make her biracial was to make her “representative of what the world looks like to kids today.” That sentiment is backed up with data. According to the New York Times, by 2020, most children under 12 will be nonwhite. And now, already 17 percent of children are biracial. Hahn said of the character, “We have a strong girl lead, but the big ideas for the show—to be courageous, have empathy for others and trust your inner voice—are universal.” You can watch clips of Nella in action in the videos below. https://youtu.be/BE2HiwuLIrQ https://youtu.be/YgMlkRJqYbs Veronica Wells is the culture editor at MadameNoire.com. Katherine Jackson Files For Restraining Order Against “Abusive” Nephew

It seems the Jackson family can't catch a break. Katherine Jackson--the family's matriarch -- has reportedly filed for a restraining order against nephew Trent Lamar Jackson. According to TMZ, in the legal papers, Katherine claims her nephew is abusive and a con-man who takes money from her bank accounts. Katherine also tried to fire Trent (who reportedly makes 6 figures as her driver) but he took off before law enforcement arrived. As a result, she is "afraid to go home with Trent there" and "fears he could physically harm her for terminating him," Rolling Stone reports. Fortunately for Mrs. Jackson, who is in London visiting daughter Janet and her new grandchild, the restraining order forces Trent to stay 100 yards away and return the keys to the guest house which he inhabited. Elder abuse is an increasingly important issue that needs to be addressed. According to The National Center On Elder Abuse, "one to two million Americans over the age of 65 have been abused (through exploitation, injury, and mistreatment) by a loved one or caregiver." With news of Mrs. Jackson's trials, we need to be more aware and supportive of our elders and recognize the signs of abuse--no matter the age. Image via WENN Quindara Lazenbury is the definition of #bosslady with the woes of adulthood to keep the ball rolling. What Do You See When You Look At This Vogue Cover?

Diversity is the answer Vogue would hope for. And if you squint real hard and tilt your head counter-clockwise toward the sun, you might see it. But given the fact that that's what it takes to see that this isn't your typical lineup of size zero white models, many consider the magazine's so-called diversity issue a fail. Where's the diversity you ask? Well, Liu Wen is Chinese; Ashley Graham is plus-size; Kendall Jenner... has black hair; Gigi Hadid's father is Palestinian-American, in addition to her being the it-girl in fashion right now; Imaan Hammam is Egyptian and Moroccan; Adwoa Aboah is Ghanian and English; and Vittoria Ceretti is Italian. So yes, in the technical sense of the word, the models are diverse, but assimilated diversity is not a step forward. Fair skin and straight hair still reign by and large, and thin bodies are still the preference, at least when it comes to selling covers, as the silhouette of Graham on the front of the mag is quite different from how her body is shown inside -- a point the glossie has been called out for. And another sore spot for some is the fact that the first time an Asian model was included on the cover of Vogue, she had to share the space with six other women. According to Yahoo, Graham did speak out against allegations she was asked to cover her body for the cover, writing on Instagram: “I chose to pose like that. No one told me to do anything.” Vogue, as expected, has said nothing. So tell us, do you see diversity when you look at this cover?

10 Signs You’re Being Hit On By A Guy You Have Zero Interest In

While men are often extremely oblivious when it comes to women showing interest in them, women can be somewhat unaware of the flirtations of men as well. We can confuse a man's attempt to woo us for a simple attempt at being friendly -- a bit awkward, but with good intentions. It's not until a number is requested, a gaze is a little too provocative or a poem with all their feelings is shared that you realize they want something you're not interested in. Here are 10 signs that you're being hit on by a guy (friend or complete stranger) that you have no real romantic interest in or sexual attraction to. Sorry, guys.
They give you a hug with their entire body.
In the instances of running into a guy you just consider a friend, it's a pretty big giveaway that they like you if they pull you in for a super tight hug. You know, the hug where they can damn near feel your heartbeat? We're talking chest to chest, almost pelvis to pelvis for a hug that feels much longer than brief.

That was back in the day when he was a little kid. But today, Jordan turned 30 years old. How Going Into Business With A Friend Ruined Our Relationship

$

0
As long as I could remember, I’ve always wanted to be the boss. I aspired to set my own schedule, create jobs and become an innovator in my respective industry. Although I think I’m pretty talented and possess business acumen, I am a firm believer that a business or project can thrive better when there are multiple minds involved. And since I have been open to having business partners, I have gravitated toward people that I like and trust the most: my friends. To date, I have formed four businesses with friends (technically only three of them were formed as an LLC) and two of them failed. I’m sure most people would say that doing business with friends and family is a huge “no-no.” But who better to do business with than the people you actually like hanging out with? After all, one of the perks of entrepreneurship is choosing whom you work with and loving it, right?

Embed from Getty Images

While I don’t regret my past choices, I have found a few significant reasons why mixing business and your personal life together might not be the best move.
The lines are blurred
I admit that this has been my issue. Whenever I’m focused on completing goals by their deadlines, I am extremely focused. So when it’s time to discuss updates or next steps with my business partner, a.k.a. my friend, I jump straight into work-related items. I assume that a normal “Hey, what’s up?” to start the conversation suffices, but in those few seconds I forget that I am actually really close with this person and that our pleasantries should be in more detail. What I mean by that is that a brief discussion about our kids or day should take place. This doesn’t solely ruin your bond but it can slowly deteriorate the enjoyment obtained from hanging out with one another that was aplenty before working together.
It can get emotional
You might have thick skin, but if your BFF really gives you sh-t for something you did, did not do or should have done regarding your business, your feelings might get hurt. And in an effort to not hurt your friend’s feelings, you might find yourself holding back on any direct criticism. This is a struggle because it causes you to refrain from being forthcoming in the effort to practice tact. And on the contrary, if you call your business partner out about certain business decisions in a less than tactful way, it can create a rift.
If the business ends, the friendship will end
Remember the two failed businesses that I mentioned? Yeah, well, in one case, our business died along with our friendship a year ago (for the record, our friendship ended first). Oh, and then there’s that one “business transaction” I did with a former roommate who became a tenant in my house. One year later, I’m still suing her for a hefty amount in past due rent and late charges and awaiting compensation. Now, if the friendship ends but you want to salvage the company, it can be saved if it’s in good financial standing and if one partner leaves willingly or is bought out. Since that rarely happens, it’s best to try and have everything in writing in the beginning so that there are no misconstrued ideas and/or rules pertaining to your agreement. In a perfect world, it would make sense to be surrounded by the people that we love in all areas of our life. Friends working together not only sounds like fun, but it sounds like a surefire success. However, we set boundaries for a reason. So handle business and personal affairs with care. Image embedded via Getty

“Everything Good Comes From Falling” Jessamyn Stanley And Tracee Ellis Ross On Why Pain Is A Gift

MOTRIN® #WomanInProgress celebrates women who have shifted their perspective on painful moments to enrich their personal growth. (Jason DeCrow/AP for MOTRIN®)[/caption] When you're a child and you fall, your first instinct is usually to cry -- even if you aren't hurt -- and, unfortunately for many of us, not much changes about our experience when we fall as adults. Though the fall may not be a physical one, the impulse to break down, even if the fall isn't really a painful thing, never leaves many of us. That was the subject of a #WomanInProgress panel Motrin put together Tuesday night with Tracee Ellis Ross, New York Times Bestselling Author Gabby Bernstein, Yoga instructor and Body Positive Advocate Jessamyn Stanley, Neuroscientist Tali Sharot, and Ana Flores, Founder and CEO of #WeAllGrow Latina Network.
"Pain is a gift. If you allow yourself to be open to it, it can teach you so many things about yourself," Jessamyn said as she told the audience about her experiences being judged for her body and what it taught her about herself. Now as a yoga instructor, Jessamyn often has to help other women work through the pain of embarrassment when they first begin the practice and take every fall as a sign yoga isn't for them. Instead of allowing her students to run with that thought, she shares insight that's applicable to all types of falls, whether physical, emotional, professional, or personal.

"It is a gift to fall," Jessamyn said. "Accept that it is supposed to happen and if you just allow it to happen and allow yourself to have the experience, you will come out of it so much stronger and so much more powerful. Just fall."
It was at that point that Tracee jumped in with her own experiences of falling, from also struggling to acclimate to the practice of yoga to auditioning for roles and even accepting where she is in life at the age of 44.
"Expectation gets me in trouble," the recent Golden Globe winner shared. "It's a dangerous trap for me. Optimism and expectation are actually really difficult for me. I think that's where a lot of my hurt and pain has come from because I had an idea that something different should have been happening and so I'm faced with matching up with what I thought it should be versus what it is and sort of the fear and terror that comes in between that the reason that is is because I didn't do enough. "There's so many things in life that we can't control, she continued, "that are out of our hands that I can't try hard enough to make happen if I want to because whether they're going to happen or not is something I can make happen."
That's a hard truth for many of us to accept, but a necessary one to relieve ourselves of the shame of feeling like we didn't do enough, as Tracee pointed out, or grieving the lack of experiences that perhaps we're simply not meant to have. Pain and falling, Tracee added, are "an opportunity for me to either frame this as something is wrong with me or I need to do something different or I did something wrong, or it's an opportunity to look at who I am, what's important to me, what I want more of and what choices I need to make that work for me." "Everything good comes from falling, Jessamyn jumped in assuredly. "When you trip, when you stumble -- you never learn to get back up if you don't fall." Check out more of Jessamyn's journey as a #WomanIn Progress in the video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNE9BsKBcrM

According to an article in last week's Politico entitled “Black Caucus chafes at Latino who wants to join,” that's the million dollar question currently being debated, albeit silently, by Caucus members on the Hill. The Latino in consideration is no other than (D-NY 13th District) Rep. Adriano Espaillat, who last November became the first Dominican-American elected to Congress. While he has not been formally asked to join the 47-year-old organization, he tells Politico writer Heather Caygle that he is currently in discussion with CBC leaders about the “pros and cons” of his potential membership. According to Caygle, more than a dozen CBC members and their aides were interviewed for the piece although very few of the CBC current leadership wanted to go on record, citing the “sensitivity” of the issue. But as Caygle reports, the Espaillat issue is not only causing CBC leadership to review its bylaws (historically, the CBC has limited its membership to African-American statesmen and -women), but it has raised all sorts of debate about who should and should not, be considered African-American. More specifically, Caygle writes:
“I think it’s reviewing our rules and bylaws and make sure that whatever happens is appropriate. Because it should not only be for him but others,” Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) said. Meeks served with Espaillat in the New York State Assembly. Espaillat was chairman of the Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus in the State Assembly and later led the Puerto Rican and Latino Caucus in the New York state Senate. “I got elected with Adriano in the State Assembly. I know his heart is in the right place. I just think this is going to be a continuing dialogue to determine what to do,” Meeks said. “Now [in Congress], we’ve been different in that you were either in the Black Caucus or you were in the Hispanic Caucus,” Meeks added. “And so the question is what happens in this scenario. And I guess he’s the first Dominican to [apply] and we’re just trying to figure it out.”
Of course, race and ethnicity is not the only reason some members of the CBC are leery. As Caygle reports, some CBC members are still upset with Espaillat for running two “bitter” campaigns (in 2012 and 2014) against former Rep. Charles Rangel for his seat in the House. Before his retirement, Rangel was the second-longest serving incumbent member in the House of Representatives. He is a founding member of the Black caucus. Also, several members are suspicious of Espaillat's current membership within the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. And as the former chair of the CBC tells Caygle:
“See that complicates matters. Even though our agendas are typically parallel, occasionally they are not. So it may be problematic if someone wants to belong to two ethnic caucuses,” said. Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.), a former chairman of the CBC. “If he’s considered an African-American then he’s certainly welcome in the caucus. But I can’t speak for the caucus.”
According to Caygle, while CBC members debated Espaillat’s potential membership during last weeks' meeting, CBC leaders have yet to make a decision. But if you ask me, bitterness and other hurt feelings over Rangel aside, there really is no legitimate reason on racial or ethnicity grounds why Espaillat is not being asked to join as a member of the Caucus. For one, Rangel who again is a founding member of the Black Caucus is half-Puerto-Rican. Espaillat, who eventually earned (through the electoral process) his seat from Rangel, represents a district that includes Harlem and still maintains a large enough Black and Latino population. After all, if Mia Love, who is a Black Mormon Republican with a White husband from Utah, can call herself a member of the CBC, I don't see why Espaillat does not have the same privilege. Not to mention with so many Hispanics – of all colors - choosing to identify as White in hopes of assimilating faster into the American dream, it is quite refreshing to see someone acknowledge their African heritage. With that said, I can sort of understand why the CBC would not like him. Unlike Love who can not (even if she wanted too) deny her blackness, Espaillat had previously downplayed his race, during his third and first successful attempt at Rangel's seat. As previously reported by the New York Daily News:
“Espaillat was happy to talk of his immigrant roots - while downplaying the racial tensions that have driven primaries in the district. He moved from the Dominican Republic to New York at age nine with his parents to live with his grandparents, who worked as a seamstress and in a Ray Ban factory. “We came on a visitor's visa and overstayed our visa, and we were for a short term of time without a green card, and then we had to go back to get a green card to be able to be admitted to the country legally. For any child or family that's a traumatic experience particularly when you're already united with the rest of your family,” he said. He wants to talk about his background to other members in hopes of influencing them on immigration. “I hope my personal story is compelling to other members,” he said. “This is a great nation, one that's offered me a great opportunity. To try to go backwards and be heavy-handed against folks who just want to do better for their families I find contrary to what I have experienced America to be.”
Yeah... Still, it goes to show that how we identify does have political consequences.

Today, the five-time Grammy-nominated singer released a powerful anthem called "White Man" that pretty much sums up how most people of color feel living in Trump's America right now. She sings in the first verse: Hey white man I am not my grandmother I'm from the city Canton, Ohio I'm just a lady but I think like a man You hating me and I don't understand You judging me, you want to send me to hell God is my father and I got my band You come for me, let me make it clear I'll whip your oooooooooooooh From there she repeats "I'll whip your oooooooooooooh" on the chorus so melodically you almost forget it's a clear and direct threat, not to mention a sentiment many of us feel. Take a listen to the full song in the video below and tell us what you think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcwrTuK7vZA

Next Tuesday marks that time of year when people go out of their way to show their love for someone (even if they'd rather not). Yes, it's Valentine's Day. The day of chocolates, teddy bears, lingerie and sex. Or at least, that's the expectation for Valentine's Day plans. And that's pretty much the point of all efforts made for Valentine's Day: to meet the expectations of our loved ones. Toluna Quicksurveys (with the help of SmartSelect) questioned 1,000 people about their Valentine's Day plans and expectations and covered everything from who most of us are spending the day with and if we're celebrating the holiday at all. Check out 10 of the revealing highlights from their survey.
The Percentage of People Expecting Sex on Valentine's Day
According to survey results, when asked their thoughts on the statement, "I expect sex because it's Vday," 55 percent of people agreed that they are expecting some tender love and care from their significant other in the bedroom on Valentine's Day. Twenty percent strongly disagreed with that statement, while 14 percent just lightly disagreed.

Wait, What?: Sources Say Bobbi Kristina Biopic In The Works

In fact, it was Bobby’s own project that halted the release of the New Edition biopic. (It was ten years in the making.) But according to a recent report from theJasmineBrand, we may see a movie about Bobby’s namesake before they finish his. Yes, a Bobbi Kristina biopic. According to the site, sources said that TV One would be the home for the project.
“TV One feels like they can tell her story in a way that will resonate with her fans. There’s so much about her life that some people didn’t know about—outside of the headlines. They think they can pull it off.”
Apparently, casting for the project has already begun. These same sources said musical artist, actress and former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Demetria McKnney would take on the role of Whitney Houston. The source said, “Demetria has the voice and she’s an actress.” And veteran actress Vivica Fox would play Bobbi Kristina’s aunt, Pat Houston. As you know, Pat worked closely with Houston, up until the day of her death. Sources said production for the project is set to begin this month. No word on who will take on the lead role. Usually, I wouldn’t spend time discussing whether or not I feel a biopic would do well or is even a worthwhile endeavor. But this feels very different. The thing that made the New Edition biopic so well done was the fact that there was a wealth of information at their disposal. Where is the information on Bobbi Kristina’s life going to come from? Tragically, she lost her life not even two years ago. So the person who has the most accurate descriptions about the thoughts and feelings she was experiencing through key life moments, is not there. The woman who gave her life, the one with whom she seemed to share an extremely close relationship, passed three years before here. I can’t see her father wanting to participate in this project in any way, shape or form. Considering the fact that Pat and her family were so against the Lifetime project, I doubt they'll be much help. And I don’t know if the memories and recollections from her former boyfriend, fiancé, play-brother, Nick Gordon, can be trusted. It all seems ill fated. What do you think? Veronica Wells is the culture editor at MadameNoire.com. Donnie McClurkin Says Christians Need To Stop Protesting Trump And Focus On Praying For Him

Late last month, Tina Campbell of Mary Mary caught the ire of quite a few people after she shared why she has forgiven the antics of Donald Trump and chosen to pray for him. As she told her followers, "I choose to stand with him and pray for him; because, as a follower of Jesus Christ and a firm believer in the Holy Bible, according to 1 Timothy 2:1-3, I have been commanded to: 'The first thing I want you to do is pray every way you know how... especially for rulers and their governments, to rule well. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live." She's not alone in encouraging people to pray for Trump to be successful in the White House. In an interview with her sister Erica on Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell, singer and Pastor Donnie McClurkin said Christians need to stop creating chaos through protest and focus on prayer. According to him, that's the role of the church right now. "Let the world protest, but the job of the church now is to go into prayer," he said. "And to pray that number one, he succeeds. Because if he fails, we have to deal with the consequences as a nation." Citing Trump's "vitriolic speech," "misogynistic ideals,""racism" and just his overall basic lack of policies, McClurkin maintained that he didn't vote for the man and isn't happy that he won. However, he said we need to realize that our true power comes in voting, not through protest. "I believe that we need to know what our vote really means and how to utilize it," he told Erica. "But I don’t want us to get caught up in the rigor now, this protest...The protests do nothing but rile up people. It causes people’s anger to rise up and it gives us a false sense of involvement. The true involvement is at the voting both." Erica disagreed, saying that protest does get people's attention and stirs things up for good reason. It shows that people want to hold the president accountable for the things he says and does. But McClurkin stated that he doesn't feel today's protests really create the change those who participate in them might think, and the money spent to have a police presence at them is not a good use of "our money" as taxpayers. "The bottom line is this: there is hardly ever follow-up," McClurkin said. "It's a flash in the pan to try and make a statement, but no statement is made." Overall, he thinks that it's time to forgo political parties and hurt feelings for creating progress through prayer. "America is in a place it's never been before and the Christian has got be who God called us to be," he told Erica. "Not Democrat, not Republican." Images via WENN

https://www.instagram.com/p/BQPUlaGB6ma/?taken-by=makeupbymichael Two of the hardest things for me to perfect in my makeup routine were filling in my brows and lining my top eyelid, and to be honest I still sometimes struggle with the latter. After experimenting with pencils, liquid liners and everything in between, I've settled on a gel liner that I apply with an angled brush, but when MAC drops its latest creation I can quickly see my current tools going by the wayside. Makeup artist Michael Patterson just gave his followers a sneak peek of MAC's spinning wheel eyeliner applicator some have already nicknamed "the pizza cutter liner." Like the names suggest, the liner applicator is a small spinning will that rolls across lids much like a pizza cutter to make creating straight, dramatic eyeliner looks easy as pie. https://www.instagram.com/p/BQRKxizhtv5/?taken-by=makeupbymichael There's no word on when the general public will get to give this new liner a try but the fact that Michael is already giving the product a test drive on models during New York Fashion Week is a good sign the debut could be soon. And the options are plentiful, you'll be able to get this liner in matte brown, matte black, patent black. Hint: We can't wait! https://www.instagram.com/p/BQT5qy9hoPJ/?taken-by=makeupbymichael

Women Of Black History: 5 Things To Know About Vaudeville Star Aida Overton Walker

$

Where would the major performers of today be without women like Aida Overton Walker? She was a multitalented performer excelling not only in dance but in choreography as well as singing. And despite the success of vaudeville acts that focused on performing degrading blackface comedy, Walker was able to excel without having to perform stereotypes of Black women because she was just that talented. Check out five things you should know about the woman looked at as "arguably the most famous female African-American performer of the early 20th century." https://www.instagram.com/p/n9YNxpi4H1/?tagged=aidaovertonwalker&hl=en
She Was Part of One of the Few All-Black Vaudeville Acts in the Late 1800s
Born in 1880 on Valentine's Day, Aida Overton grew up in New York City where her talents were nurtured and flourished. After receiving a great deal of musical training, she started working as a chorus member for Black Patti's Troubadours, a vaudeville company led by singer Sissieretta Jones. While performances included operatic singing and ballads, Aida also witnessed the prevalent blackface performances and minstrel "coon" songs that the company also did. While working for the company, she met her future husband, George Walker, and his partner in performing, Bert Williams. They were a very popular Black vaudeville act in the late 1800s, and when Aida joined them to be the female lead, she became part of one of the few all-Black acts allowed to showcase their talents in front of White folks on stage. While they might have occasionally performed in blackface, the group danced and sang songs in a way that weren't demeaning and objectifying.
She Was Called the "Queen of the Catwalk"
Aida was known as the "Queen of the Cakewalk" for her moves, helping to make popular the cakewalk dance. Of course, the cakewalk was a dance from the 19th century that started on slave plantations and mocked the movements of White people. Eventually it evolved into a huge thing where the walker who performed the best or had the most entertaining steps would be awarded a large cake for their talents. https://www.instagram.com/p/BIJRErFDpPZ/?tagged=aidaovertonwalker&hl=en
She Performed in Drag for a While
After years of performing with her husband, Aida had to stand alone on stage when George fell ill, stuttering and struggling with memory loss (Side note: He ended up dying of syphilis before there was a cure for it). While he was battling with his health, Aida started performing both his parts and her own on stage. To pull off Walker's moves for their work in the show Bandana Land, she dressed in drag. Her performance received great accolades from publications of the time.
She Went out of Her Way to Avoid Portraying Black Women in a Stereotypical Way
After the death of her husband, Aida's career lagged for a bit. However, it experienced a resurgence after her performance as Salome in 1912 at Hammerstein's Victoria Theatre. The biblical character is seen as a symbol of the dangers of female seduction. And while White performers did her dance provocatively, Aida chose to take on the performance in a much different way. Everything from her facial expressions to her actual movements were focused on conveying the emotions of the character. This was important because Aida did not want to help perpetuate stereotypes of Black women as lewd and hypersexual. Her performance was a success and led to more invitations to perform. https://www.instagram.com/p/BM-Ul0_DtD2/?tagged=aidaovertonwalker&hl=en
She Paved the Way for the Likes of Josephine Baker
Sadly, Aida lived a short life. She passed away suddenly in the fall of 1914, with the cause of death being kidney failure. She was only 34 at the time. Still, her legacy and the doors she opened paved the way for future performers we have come to know and embrace, including Florence Mills and Ms. Banana Dance herself, Josephine Baker.

According to NPR, after months of rumors that Prince's prized catalog would be coming to streaming services, Napster (formerly known as Rhapsody) and another source have confirmed to the site that his "records under Warner Bros. — which include the epochal classics 1999, Purple Rain, Dirty Mind, and Sign o' the Times — will be available to stream this Sunday, the day of the 59th Grammy Awards." Napster, in particular, broke the news in a jovial romp, writing: "The rumors are true ... music fans rejoice!" With such news breaking recently, there's a strong indication that other streaming services like Spotify will also partake in streaming the specified catalog. However, Spotify and Apple have both declined to comment. While Prince fans will now be able to consume his music easily, it's certain that Prince himself wouldn't appreciate his music being available on streaming services, as he made it clear that he wasn't too keen about his music being consumed aggressively my the masses. Before his death, he would pull unauthorized clips of his songs and performances from the Internet, with Tidal being the only streaming service he had his music available on. Now, his estate has been eagerly looking for different ways to market his catalog, and it looks as if Grammy day will be the huge unveil.

Here’s How To Treat Your Bleached Tresses With TLC

Anyone that's ever bleached their hair or know a friend that has knows that it's a serious commitment. The upkeep alone of such a high maintenance style is no joke. In particular, gospel singer and actress Tamela Mann has first-hand experience, flaunting a lighter multidimensional blonde look last year. While hair 'do always look fabulous and well groomed, it's not a one-woman show whatsoever. Mann can thank her longtime stylist of 20 years and counting Karla Langs to keeping her hair equally fly and healthy.

Good morning!! To begin, she swears by conditioning. “Whenever you bleach your hair, you have to incorporate protein and your keratin treatments," she shared. "The protein gives it strength and the keratin seals the cuticle.” She also stresses not double processing: "If you are relaxing and bleaching your hair, make sure to see a professional to determine the proper wait time between each process." When treating your bleached mane with TLC, moisturizing (“The key to keeping great hair is moisture.") and protecting your hair at night (“Use a silk or satin wrap or bonnet.") are also must-haves, according to Langs.
